At 70 making hats from a 50 year-old-yarn stash of lots of small skeins is my go-to. I've made so many I'm having trouble finding homes. I now donate. We live in Alberta, Canada where it's really cold and windy almost all year around so I never put my "toques" away. Making them to fit loosely seems to be the way these days as they don't squish the expensive hair cuts or leave ridges on the forehead. Thanks for more free ideas.

I have knitted with Germantown and I really recommend it. At the time, I was more into superwash yarns so the lack of variegation in the yarn colors bothered me. For reference, I knitted the Courage Shawl by Shannon Cook using all the recommended yarns and colorways (the pattern calls for Germantown and Spincycle). I love shawls and this one is my most worn. The spincycle has pilled but the Germantown is still going strong without a single pill! Since then I've collected quite a few colors of Germantown including some of the "unicorns" and I plan to do a second Courage Shawl with just Germantown. To sum up, I would call it a workhorse yarn without being too rustic.

Thank you!! I normally don’t like pattern round up videos because most people just surf Ravelry and point out things that look nice and read off the website. You kept the topic specific and really investigated the patterns and gave such thoughtful info. Thank you again for putting in such effort and I’m saving this video😊

I vote for the Lucky Seven hat as the yarn would let those cables pop and the star top wld be lovely, but truthfully any of the textured hats would work really well. Excellent round up episode and there are many I hope to knit using leftovers from other project!

Wow....what a great podcast. I, too, love the Flying Geese hat and have already downloaded it and have yarn in mind for it. I think you should make the Twisted Trellis Hat--your farm yarn would show off the texture very nicely. Looking forward to your scrappy episode. Thank you for doing this for us, I'm sure it takes a lot of time researching them. Happy Knitting.

Amber, I just finished the March hat using Malabrigo Rios. I skipped all the fussy cast on and did a long tail. It turned out great, highly recommend and I will be making more. Thanks so much for a FABULOUS informative episode!!!

I’ve been looking for new hat patterns that are for babies and adults that challenge me a little so this was a great episode. I did have a couple you mentioned. If I were you probably the Rautenmutze with purl bumps making the design or the trinity would be it. I’m going to see what the trick is on the Rhuska and maybe try the snowflake out.

Hey Patti! Two roadrunners! That's awesome! I still need to finish my first one. I've been trying to get my Gloam done so I can wear it for Thanksgiving, so it's been getting most of my knitting attention! Thanks so much for watching!

I suggest the hat that resembles the Dutch braids your daughter does, so pretty.

I’ve made one of the Kelborne Woolens year of hats- the June hat is my all time favorite hat to make. I’ve made about 10 of them so far and do not plan on stopping. So fun to make and the end result is beautiful. Also have made the bank(bankers)hat that you featured-a very nice hat.
