Glad you think so! I really appreciate this comment. I personally love learning things from KZbin and I try to explain things the way I would find helpful myself.

You listed the wire on your site as “dead soft”. Isn’t that highly malleable? Or is that the very springy stuff you used that holds its shape well? I’m wanting something that will keep its roundness on the wrist and not crimp or flatten easily
@stonesandfindings5 ай бұрын
Yes, dead soft is malleable. However, it is less so when it is thick (heavier gauge). Once you form it around something round to get approximate shape, cut it. Then put it in a tupperware and shake it up and down (not side to side cuz it will flatten the roundness). This will work harden it. If you started with hard or half hard, but heavier gauge, it will be extremely difficult to bend it round evenly.

I wonder how you remove the bracelets. because some materials cannot withstand water and sweat or chlorine water
@stonesandfindings3 ай бұрын
Exactly - cannot use gold plated /costume quality chains.

Hi, have you had an issue with the weld coming apart? I weld all the way around but still can't get the weld to stay.
@stonesandfindings7 ай бұрын
What is the gauge and metal you're welding? If it is very thick, yes, it might not penetrate. I have weld up to 14 gauge and can't pry apart. I have had 12 ga come apart when I pry.

How do you shape it well and work harden it afterwards if it is welded on? Are you using dead soft or half hard? Just trying to wrap my head around this. 😊 bangles potato chip pretty easily.
@stonesandfindings Жыл бұрын
you cannot work harden it well after you have welded it. You can shape it around something round and then use a hammer to tap. Or if you have coiled the wire, you can place it into a tupperware and shake it up and down (not side to side), and the hitting will work harden it.

I’ve been trying this for a while with solid 14k gold 18g and I cannot get it to weld completely even when welding all the way around. I’ve been doing pmj for 1.5 years so I’m very familiar with welding and can’t figure out why this is happening
@stonesandfindings3 ай бұрын
Well, solid gold definitely requires more power than sterling silver and gold filled. Perhaps try 30w, and many more tack welds. I'm going to try that with other metals.

Can this be done using an existing gold bangle? I would love to get my moms old bangle from childhood welded on.
@stonesandfindings8 ай бұрын
The answer is yes, but if it is thick, it will be hard and the finish won't be as smooth as soldering. You will need lots of spot welds all around the seam. If it is thicker than 18ga, I would suggest you get it soldered.

Have you tried with the Orion PJ? If so, what settings worked best for you for Sterling, gold filled and 14k solid gold? Or would you recommend 10k gold for bangles?
@stonesandfindings Жыл бұрын
Yes, I have the PJ also. It has a max setting of 15w. For bangles, you will have to use the max wattage for the PJ, and not go over 18ga thickness. Weld multiple welds around the wire.
@brokke31t Жыл бұрын
Thank you! And which type of wire and setting would you recommend for solid gold or gold filled? I presume the same size but does dead soft exist for those metals?
@Marie-PierandNick10 ай бұрын
That looks beautiful! If the wire is dead soft, does it warp and get out of shape when worn? Or does it keep its shape ok? Would you consider using half hard wire for these?
@stonesandfindings10 ай бұрын
The wire is soft and you can harden it by putting a coil of it in any tupperware and shaking it. I prefer half hard, but if the wire is thick, it doesn't have to be half hard.

Thanks so much for this! I have been trying and trying to do this with 18g solid 14k gold and it seems to weld, but then I can always snap it apart. I’ve played with many different settings on the Orión mpulse, made sure the alignment is perfect but still not working. Help!
@stonesandfindings Жыл бұрын
You need to weld more than one place. I would recommend that you spot weld 5 places around the seam, at 18w to 20w. The key is the do more spot welds.
@morganfultz16 Жыл бұрын
@@stonesandfindings I did and it seemed welded but it would break if pulled on
@caseysullivan1047 Жыл бұрын
can't wait to try this! what was your personal favorite gauge for this?
@stonesandfindings Жыл бұрын
I would go with something thinner. I like the effect of 18 gauge. Let me know what you think of it!
