Stubby ratchets are so handy. Even when I have plenty of space to work I find myself using them. They’re easier to turn and manipulate if a lot of torque isn’t necessary.

The Mac Tools “mini” 1/4 ratchet is amazing. My everyday go to ratchet for getting in those small tight spaces. Highly recommend it

I was never really into stubby ratchets, but years ago a buddy of mine got a Craftsman flex head round handle stubby ratchet, it was probably in the early 90's.

Pretty cool looking stubby and $25 is tough to beat. Thanks for telling us about it.

Stubby ratchets are indispensable.

Hi Just discovered your channel per that Atlas tool bag with the wacky zipper. Curious if that zipper detail was ever resolved ? This mini ratchet is interesting Every current day engine compartment is a challenge where micro tools prove helpful. Is there a razor type tool shaped like a elongated extendable handle ? I spent a lot of time removing 16 year old water and heater hoses from a Honda. I had pre purchased replacements but cutting off the existing at the “neck “seemed to demand a dagger like blade and not typical shorter razor knives as the locations are up against firewalls or buried under varied engine parts brackets etc

I think this may be the first time I’ve beaten you to a tool doc! I love my leetle ratchets

I’m a Snap-On guy all the way, so I’m biased, but I’m not really stoked about the wedged retention tang on the Milwaukee. They should’ve used an easier method of selector switch retention. But I’m guessing they don’t sell rebuild kits for this. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Doc do you use those protective lug nut sockets with the plastic liners? If so what brand? Thank you Sir

Please tell me about that extension you snapped on the ratchet ?

How deep is your 10? Snap On and VIM extra long 10mm sockets. Better than an extension in many ways. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmTXhYmgh82Hi9U

Can we throw in an Icon stubby in there too. All great ratchets!

Great little ratchet. Every major power tool brand is manufacturing pliers and screwdriver and ratchets. A little competition is not bad if the quality of this tools compare with the traditional brands

No they aren't, they're just slapping their name on them. Personally I'm not buying imported hand tools from a power tool brand.
@marsbase3729 Жыл бұрын
@@TylerSnyder305are they not quality checking the tools they put their name on? Just wondering, I have a Milwaukee drill and impact driver and they're great, but don't have any Milwaukee hand tools 🤔

I bought 2 of the 1/4" stubbys and 2 of the 3/8" stubbys. I converted a 1/4" to 3/8" @ 3" and made a 5" 1/4" and I can't tell you how much I love them 😂😂
@weareyouare26804 ай бұрын
I did the same but the 3/8 stubby is almost the same as the regular 1/4 ratchet. Kind of a waste.
@andreidanuts Жыл бұрын
You can buy the 3/8 stubby to swap the anvils

Hard to beat the Gearwrench 90t compact stubby if only they had 1/4” version. Except obviously the SO tends to beat them as it should at the price.

I use the poo out of my tekton stubby 1/4. It may not be the best out there but great bang for the buck

Yeah. . . I think I’ll just stick to chopping off a $12 Harbor Freight ratchet to whatever length I want. Why anyone would overpay for a stubby ratchet is beyond me. Not like it needs to stand up to 100ft lbs. Besides, the heads on both of those are HUGE compared the dozens of 1/4” ratchets on the market today. I have “full size” 1/4” ratchets smaller than those stubbies.
@markm00002 ай бұрын
The reason why these stubbies with regular size heads are great is because they’re half way between a palm ratchet and a standard ratchet. You want to be able to hold onto something while turning a bolt in a tight spot. It can put down a lot more torque than a palm ratchet with a handle to overcome corrosion or loctite resistance.

Why not clip half a coil off the spring and set the backdrag where you want it, just keep removing a 1/4 coil at a time until its well below Japanese level of spring preload.

Milwaukee copied a Stanley ratchet. No, thanks to Milwaukee tools
@kittytrail Жыл бұрын
copied or, more likely, bought a ratchet model from the same supplier as Stanley and slapp'd their brand and price tag on it? 😏
