Two words. Doris Day. Fantastic vocalist recording career along with her film and television career. 100 percent real and true to herself. Never a mysterious movie queen. Never went anywhere with an entourage. Rode her bike to work and recording sessions when she could and a fierce Animal rights advocate with her own lobbying organization in DC and her own organization for pet care and adoptions. Her roles in film are amazing from serious drama to westerns to a sexy spy in the rich lush production of Caprice and onward into living rooms in her TV show and specials. What a fine woman and a life well lived. And she made it all look easy!!

This video upload should have been titled "Most loved Hollywood Actresses of the 40's/50's". Quite a few of the depicted stars were long forgotten or not relevant during the 60's. Liz Taylor was very relevant during the 60's and also won an Oscar for Butterfield-8; i personally feel she should have won the Oscar for "Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf", which was a very difficult part to portray convincingly. It was emotionally draining. Roz Russell was quite active during the 60's in films such as Gypsy, Auntie Mame, Rosie, Oh dad, poor dad, mama's hung you in the closet', Must mention that Karl Marlden looked good wearing a toupee in Gypsy with Roz. Ingrid Bergman too was quite active in the 60's with the wonderful Cactus Flower with Walter Mathau and Goldie Hawn,; plus there was Autumn Sonata, Goodbye Again and Indiscreet. That's quite a bit I recall from the 60's on these Hollywood Greats. Susan Hayward made a sort of comeback in "Valley of the Dolls" during the latter half of the 60's.

Great video, but I find it odd that you specify the 60’s for this video. The vast majority of these gems achieved their heights prior to the 60’s. Not that they weren’t still loved, but not at their height of notoriety.

Carole Lombard could not be one of the most beloved actresses of the 1960s. She died in 1942! Who did research on this? I am only six minutes in and already errors. Jean Harlow - 1960s??

@Joan-qn5ui I believe it's AI that is narrating these stories too. More than half of the words are Mispronounced and the information that they put out is completely wrong. The story's headline is about most loved stars in the 60's. Jean Harlow died in 1937 and Carole Lombard died in 1942.

Came here looking for this comment - I mean most of the actresses featured had their heyday in the 1930's and 1940's.... Not many of the women featured were even still working by the 1960's - with a few not even still breathing anywhere near the 1960's....!?!

Just a correction: Judy Garland didn't win the Oscar for best actress in 1954. She was, indeed, the favorite to win, so much so that being hospitalized after giving birth to her son, NBC sent a TV crew to the hospital to capture her reaction and the victory speech. However, she lost to Grace Kelly, in what many people consider one of the great injustices of the Oscars.

This piece is rather confusing to me. I will say that I was first introduced to many of these actresses in the 1960's as they played them on Chicago TV where I lived as a teenager. I'm now 69 and I just don't understand how you could include women like Greta Garbo (whom the studio had to work with for over 2 years in order for to speak English. She retired young and therefore made no movies in the 1960's. Likewise, Jean Arthur, Rosalind Russell, Jean Harlow, and Claudette Colbert never made movies in the 1960's, and Barbara Stanwyck turned to TV in the 1960's. She was great in "The Big Valley" and "The Thornbirds". I think his piece should have been entitled: '25 most loved Hollywood Actresses of the 1930's". Just my opinion...

Actresses of the 1960s? Carole Lombard died in 1942, Garbo acted in her last movie in 1941, Judy Garland hardly did anything in the 1960s, Jean Harlow died in 1937, Grace Kelly quit in 1956, Irene Dunn in 1952… Most loved of the 1960s? Misleading, isn't it?
