The very worst thing what happen to Cass was the affair between Denny & Michelle. She had been in love with him for years. She told Michelle you could have any man why would you take the one person I love. That was a massive divide in the band. They both had now destroyed every person in the band. They were at the height of their fame. Cass was the only person that had a true heart in that whole group. I just wish she would have had more time with Owen and saw much more success. When she died she was solo and packing in the crowds. Sad end to a beautiful voice and soul.

Moma Cass didn’t die in a hotel room. She had been lent Harry Nilsson’s Mayfair apartment, and in a further act of tragedy, he lent it to the Who’s Keith Moon, who died there also a few years later. I like this narrator, but he omitted the truly awful behaviour of John Philips, who was his daughter MacKensie’s “lover” for over a decade, well into her twenties. Perhaps our narrator was unaware of just how awful this man was, or merely wished to spare us the ghastly details.
@GonzoHenson3 ай бұрын
I guess he wanted to edit things down to mostly focus on Michelle. Plus, by the time it happened, he and Michelle weren't as connected as in their early years. I think the scriptwriter would have also had to wrestle with Michelle's attitude with McKenzie's revelation of her abuse. A lot of her family called her a liar, which sadly happens with abuse victims. The victim starts falling down a rabbit hole of destructive behaviors due to their trauma and the family starts thinking of them as a 'problem.' Then, when the abuse is revealed, they think that the victim is lysing or attention-seeking and are unsupportive and disbelieving, furthering the trauma. I don't know if Michelle has become more supportive in future years, but it is a tough dynamic to portray in a short bio. It does, however, add some counterpoint to the notion that, later in life, she became this caretaker and champion of her extended family.

For those that don't know who Chuck Day was, he was much more than a studio musician. He played with Johnny Rivers and came up with the catchy guitar riff in "Secret Agent Man" as well as other great guitar lines. He had a really easy way with a guitar and none the notes he played were forced. The footage of him at 19:05 was taken at 19 Broadway in Fairfax Ca. Chuck was a bartender there and was well known in the Fairfax music scene. I'm not sure how but pretty much everyone knew that Owen was his daughter with Mama Cass. After he passed away (after his third heart attack) there was a memorial at 19 Broadway and Owen was present. That was the only time I ever saw her.

Why does Michelle Phillips think that she has the right to disclose Cass’s secrets??? Disgusting!!! Michelle is so low… she is still trying to abuse her in death !!! Hate to burst Michelle’s bubble but she can’t sing (she had no talent to sing w/ out Cass) no actual acting parts (where she was the lead… always just the supporting actor). Cass deserved so much more than her band mates gave her.

Michelle Phillips was in an Episode of "Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense", Series 1 Episode 6 "Paint Me A Murder" from 1984. It was shown on the UKs Talking Pictures Channel recently. 🤩📺💖

I heard a different story, Cass Elliot revealed the paternity to both john and Michelle Phillips prior to leaving for London. She left explicit instructions that in the case of her early demise they were not to reveal the father's identity before Owen's 19th birthday. And It was at Owen's 19th birthday party they carried out Cass's instructions and told Owen.

Yes, indeed there was a lot drama, drugs and music…and lots of crazy…and truth in this…and that was even before Michelle arrived on my mother Tamar’s doorstep…then life itself became very strange, wild sometimes scary weird. A lot of life experiences shoved into just one before I was even a teen.

That whole scene was nefarious and creepy. With a whole lot of shady characters and musicians who had parents from military backgrounds CIA assets and MK Ultra stooges. The whole of the 60s was a Psyop.

Thank you for these two videos. I wonder if Cass had hypothyroidism, which would be a possible cause of her weight gain and problems with her attempts to lose weight. It was not diagnosed much in those years, perhaps because it was hard to test for. But it would explain a lot of her physical issues.

Mama Cass was the _Heart and Soul_ of the band. This day and age she wouldn't have needed the band to succeed. She was treated horribly. And Michelle just used and abused everyone she came in contact with. This is a good example of "looks" vs. "talent." I'm certainly not saying that the rest of the band didn't have talent...they absolutely did...I'm talking more about what looks will get you vs what raw talent with no looks gets you *as a female* ...at least back then.
