Here in the walhalla of the netherlands, they must either ring the doorbell and deliver to a person, or drop it off at a package collection point, or try a second time and if not successful the second time drop of at package collection point or return to sender.

I think Mail delivery should press bell and delivery to person right away. (And dont put box in front the door!) if no one inside he bring back product to mail places and warn to SMS to person if he can come by tomorrow. comes return to try tomorrow same hour. if someone is not there mail delivery delivery SMS to warn them or should put paper below door and flip message to someone read and claim product later in under door and put product in deposit box of mail store or places nearbys so owner can grab there later.

@@kestrel7714 post office is lazy. Other delivery drivers are overworked as it is. Solution might be a sliding scale for shipping. The suggestions have merit; Make provision to ensure delivery or maybe $10 in an envelope the delivery person can find and do what customer asks. But what solution for inner city? For Netherlands system to work, Americans shouldn't be buying so much cheap crap. Things just evolved over time, and criminals developed.

Years ago I dated a girl for a short time that worked as a "cocktail waitress," or that's what she told me. I went to say "Hi" one night at the club where she worked. In South Africa our packages are not left on a porch or in a yard. We pick it up at a depot or it is delivered when you are at home or at work, It is not left unless you sign for when taking it is delivered.

@@jheldal Reducing the cost of delivery is half the problem. Drivers cannot afford to wait, and many customers are at work. Having to pick it up is unrealistic since many items are of low value. I appreciate South Africa and Denmark, but Americans are too casual in ordering, and maybe too busy, many have to.

6:00, in my neighborhood we did the same thing. Neighbors would randomly fill boxes with dog poop. The theft of packages stopped. We guess that word got around. 19:50, should be sold to the public.

At a robbery a bank handed over one or several of these packs to a robber. A few minutes later a pack exploded with red ink all over the robber. The psychologic effect and the difficulty in removing the paint made him turning himself to the police.

There was a school near my parents house. The kids from that school used to come in to my parents backyard. The school was a French immersion school and the principal could barely speak English my dad was also a French speaker he went down spoke to this principal in French and said he had to keep the kids out of his backyard. The principal said that it was out of his hands. My dad went to Canadian Tire picked up some sheep poop that was meant to be a fertilizer for a garden spread it in a slight groove under the fence that the kids were using to enter the backyard. Within a week there was a kid that had their clothes covered in sheep poop. Hopefully they can borrow clothes when they get back to school so they don't have to wear those clothes home. Hopefully they're smart enough to go to a coin laundry and wash those clothes before their parents see them.

My former father in law had visits from dog owners in his front yard. The dog owners led their dogs there to poop in the hedge. Fortunately the hedge consisted of plants with thorny branches. As soon as he "forgot" to remove the branches after cutting the hedge, the dogs avoided the yard. Thorns in dog paws works ;)

I really like the dog poop one. I also like the siren and sprinkler with AI. Bobby traps however can be very bad because they can become illegal quickly. Because what if a fireman or police had to go there in an emergency... and yes this is what courts have decided. But I am not so sure poop in a box is going to get you in as much trouble lmfao. Instead of using glitter a clothes die would not only colour their clothes but their skins also. Then notify police and show them the film and make of car within then police can look for th4e dyed skin especially the face, hands and neck. clothes dyes take ages to clear off the skin, and we are taking weeks not just days. If the thief's don't wear a full hair protection it will also dye their hair, you can even obtain Florissant dyes today I believe and even black light dyes which glow under ultraviolet light but otherwise invisible.

Here in Denmark home owners have a safe package delivery box in combination with the letterbox. It can take rather large packages and it works through a lid that tilts out so you can leave a package on the tray, and when you ckplose the lid the package falls down into a secondary chamber that is not accessible from the loading tray. On the side facing inwards there is a locked door that the home ownerc can open to retrieve the packages. All the delivery services in Denmark offers a QR code you can put on the door, and when the package delivery guy comes he scans the QR with his phone and gets detailed information on where to hide the package so it isn't visible from the street. I have a tool shed in the garden behind our house, and when the delivery guy brings a package when I'm not home he simply goes around the house and via a tiny path and some stairs get to the garden behind the house and down in the far end of the garden is the tool shed where he puts the package on the table inside. After that I receive an SMS that a new package is delivered in my toolshed. BTW: All delivery services here always MUST ring the bell to see if the homeowner is actually home, so they a,ways make an attempt at delivering the parcel in person before putting it at the location agreed upon.

In my state, porch pirates can be arrested for theft AND trespass. One legal definition of trespess is if someone comes onto your property, including common areas, and commits a crime. On the other hand, most of these homeowners can be arrested for assault, especially if there are witnesses or evidence.

We have a post office or a shop that receives the parcels or a parcel shop. If you are not home, the parcel delivery companies will not leave them anywhere or it would be in a safe place or reliable neighbors. The only thing is that some drivers keep them, or they are sent to a completely different place. I live in Belgium and my parcel arrives in the Netherlands. 2 hours drive.
