When I am on the road I use my Samsung phone with PdaNet+ installed. My laptop has a client version of PdaNet+. I can use USB Tether or WiFi Direct Hotspot to connect to my laptop. During the Texas Freeze I had my generator hooked up to the house. I used my Sprint Magic Box in my house and connected to it with my phone. Then connected from my phone to my laptop using USB. The client version allows you to broadcast over the laptop's WiFi. We used over 50Gb in a few days. Note: PdaNet+ works only on Android. The cellular service provider will think that you are using cellular data and not a hotspot. There is also an option to Hide Tether Usage.

I’m so glad I live in the city where I have up to 7Gig fiber, cable and 3 cellular home internet to choose from. I get fiber 500m for only $29.99. BYW.. look into changing the TTL on your laptop. It’s a command line hack, but it will make their cell network think you are just using your phone vs hotspot with all the throttling and limitations.
@thefrugalhomestead78733 ай бұрын
That is the one benefit of visible if you're using it line tethered there is no limitations and there is no throttling. So by using it through the computer and using the hotspot built into the computer or going out to a router we get the full speed. I will say if I could have 500m for $29.99 I would freak out. That's an insanely awesome price but it also shows where there's competition there's lower prices.

Have been using this service with a little more expensive MOFI router with external antennas. Works great that way also, as the area where we use it has very poor cell service. I understand there's a way to make it work as a normal router with a Franklin T9 hotspot as well, and those are available for $10 or so. Our issue with that particular cell router is that it doesn't support the cellular "band" we get best service from in our area, where the MOFI 4500 will.
@thefrugalhomestead78732 жыл бұрын
You have to check and see if it supports 5G because Verizon is slamming out 5G all over the place and will end up really hitting hard because of the band they use. Visible is not an mvno because they are owned by Verizon. It's just their cheaper, prepaid, deprioritized, slower service using the same servers, towers or network equipment. Cloud based does not mean no physical servers, but that you don't have physical access to those servers. The cloud is just using someone else servers that you access from anywhere.
@thefrugalhomestead78732 жыл бұрын
Think you need to relook at this because it is its own entity much like Metro is owned by T-Mobile but it's own business it is cheaper but it's no longer cloud-based it switched over to using the legacy prepaid servers.

@@thefrugalhomestead7873 I guess visible needs to as well since they've reached out to multiple outlets to correct the record and state they aren't an mvno. Hi, I did everything you say do. But i can only connect to one device and that's it. I talk to customer service and they say you can only connect one device to your unlimited hot spot. Any suggestions?
@thefrugalhomestead7873 Жыл бұрын
As I said in the video if you don't have an iPhone you can only hook to one device at a time. That's why I showed you guys the rest of the things in the video. So hook the phone to your computer via your USB charging cord. Turn on tethering. Then your computer should have internet from your phone. At that point you can follow the instructions of the video to share internet out your ethernet port. Then hook the Ethernet port to a router then all your devices can share it. Some computers will allow you to share Wi-Fi through it which would do the same thing without a router. Through the standard mobile hotspot yes you can only hook one device at a time if you follow the instructions above you can have unlimited devices

My Spectrum Internet is 49.99 per month for 1 year and it's 49.99 period with no extra fees or taxes and they now have 49.99 per month plus 1 unlimited Talk Text and Data Mobile Phone Line for 1 year and then they say they phone line will be 29.99 per month taxes and fees included in that price.
@thefrugalhomestead78732 жыл бұрын
Yep first year $50 but it goes up after that intro period. There unlimited line is only 30 gig data . Still not bad for most users but not unlimited. Wait a year or 2 without adding new services and you will see the price hike .
@dallase12 жыл бұрын
Yup after the year it goes up t0 $70 which is the same as Google Fiber 1 mega bit so I might as well just get that. When you say the "Unlimited Plan" is 30 GB do yo mean they cut you off at 30 GBs or just throttle your speed? I read in the fine print that they throttle at 20 GB which is less that T-Mobile which will throttle at 50 GB during peak usage times, at least that is what the fine print says. Right now I'm testing out T=Mobile Home Internet on my 55+ plan which will be $25 a month because I have one of the qualifying plans that will get me the $25 a month plus taxes and fees price.
@thefrugalhomestead78732 жыл бұрын
@@dallase1 Yes their spectrum Mobile cuts off at 20 then it is full on throttled. The deal with T-Mobile internet Will be hard to beat. That said visible mobile never throttles you. The price has gone up to $30 a month though.

Yep still works great as long as Verizon/visible has good service in your area. Another option is connecten it's an internet service that uses all three carriers we did a video on it recently. have had visible for 2 yrs, I am 3 miles from tower, have set up 2 Yagi wifi antennas, 20 ft high.......... 4 bars all the time inside. No antenna, no internet in my area! I did Diy MOFI..... amplifier I got on eBay, router in my bedroom. Have upgraded to the 5g plan, my bill is still $25 I have 3 towers my antenna can pick up in a 10 mile radius, one tower slow, we turn it around to the others. Fixing to experiment with other antennas pointing at the 3 separate towers and see what happens, also changing everything to dual band so I can get 2.4 and 5g. I don't go by speed, if it loads good, and I can watch without buffering, I am happy.

I tried the free trial and tried to purchase the monthly plan, all attempts failed. I did however figure out that I can use a vpn and use my straight talk $55 plan to use my hotspot to run my tv. In 2 days I used more than my total hotspot allotment and it’s still working. I connected laptop to phone hotspot with PairVPN running on both and run the tv off the laptop hotspot.
