I live in Hawaii and was a devout “water man “ throughout the 80s windsurfing, diving, fishing, kayaking, and sailing a 16’ beach catamaran. I was in the ocean almost every day. I had a couple of times when I thought I was going to die. I love the ocean and have a great respect for it. I’m 68 now and I still get a big adrenaline rush every time the wind blows 30 knots or more.

Believe it or not, I've only seen the ocean once in my life... While it was interesting and all... The sun HATES me... that feeling is entirely mutual. My one trip to the ocean cost me dearly. Since that trip where I was burned quite severely... I no longer can generate a freckle on my face... I had blisters on blisters... covering a large percentage of my body... the pain was brutal and lasted for weeks. Now I've had sunburns many times in my life... but that was the worst I've ever been burned. Now I avoid the sun like the plague. Even with 100spf on I can't stand to be in the sun for more than 5 min... I knew after that trip that becoming an archeologist or any other outdoor endeavor was NOT in my cards. Dashed all my hopes that did... but I suppose it was a necessary lesson. Anyway... I find the ocean interesting... I would probably enjoy it if it weren't well... so exposed to the sun... now maybe I could have studied marine biology at night... or something... but yeah... not a likely career path for me.
