I live in Mexico. Some people make it such an expensive trip. Prices of accommodations have really gone up, but you can still eat for cheap and even spend $0 on transportation if you choose a walkable place or a few quarters (metro in Mexico City). You are absolutely right about getting tacos for cheap and a quesdilla is $1-1.50. You can still find a few hostels in the $10 range. There used to be a lot more AirBnBs in the $10-12 range, but those have skyrocketed.

I've enjoyed your budget lists in the past, but this year your video is suprisingly different from the list you'll find on my channel. It must be pointed out that Türkiye (the name was officially changed from Turkey a few years ago now) continues to suffer from massive inflation and it is an overall much pricier place than this video makes out. great tips - if you have food restrictions like Vegan, Vegetarian, you can multiply food costs by 4. In recent visit to Northeast India visit, if you cover 2-4 places per day, you are looking at $4 to 10 as entrance fees to these places; unless you are taking rides with strangers, transportation to far off places can be $10-30 and of course, decent accommodations cost you 4 times what great Lexie mentioned in this video in 2025, I am going to Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet
@doodleorme12 күн бұрын
In October we spent 30 days travelling across Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. I kept track of our accommodation costs. For 30 days we spent €160 per person and stayed mostly in double rooms with a private bathroom, averaging €5.3 per day. I'm vegetarian too and India is amazing for that as vegetarian food is really cheap and easy to find, we rarely spent more than €1 per meal. In other countries is harder, but my partner eats meat and actually his meals tend to be more expensive than mine! Vegetables are cheaper than meat, if anyone is charging you 4x for a vegetarian meal they are robbing you!

Having just been to Egypt I would argue your prices are way off. For a foreigner, prices in Egypt are between 8 and 15 times more than locals and you cannot get around the foreigner price. Entry into the pyramids alone costs about 14usd. Finding cheap transportation and food is a constant battle to not get charged foreigner prices. You can use Uber in Cairo but will have 4 out of 5 people asking you to pay in usd at a huge price increase so you have to keep cancelling until you can find one that will accept the standard price. I’ve travelled a lot of countries on a super low budget and I found Egypt impossible to do on a low budget. Never mind all the tipping you are pressured into. I’m not sure when you last went there but prices have skyrocketed in the last few months because all the price Info we had from just before we went was all way out of date already and everything had been raised by double or more.

Hi Lexie! I am finding these prices (especially for accommodations) VERY low. Are your estimated ranges based on current stats? And even then, I really don't think accommodation can be found for $5-10/day in most of the places you featured.
@LexieLimitless13 күн бұрын
Hey! The prices are based on the most up to date blogs sharing information for backpackers as well as my personal experience. The rates I mention in this video are for shared dorm rooms in hostels during low/shoulder season for people who hope to find the cheapest prices possible. However, if you want to stay in the most central tourist locations, travel during the high season, etc. the prices will be higher. The countries on this list are also generally the cheapest in comparison to other countries in the region

Tblisi is absolutely not that cheap. I was there a few months ago and its not safe right now because of the Russian Georgian politics.

I found it incredibly cheap when I was there last year!

Lexie your price estimates are barely survival level-simply to exist! For any quality of life your prices are too low.

Dangerous countries?

Nice list except it's kind of useless and out of date. Medellin Colombia which is the most visited city in Colombia is much more expensive than you stated particularly where most tourists go in el poblado, an Airbnb is easily over $100 per night. It used to be way cheaper. Same thing with Mexico, it's a huge country and prices vary significantly by where you stay. Polanco in Mexico City as well as Cancun and the Riviera Maya for example are not cheap at all and way more expensive than you stated.

True. I am in Portugal right now low cost and everything is at least twice as expensive as in video. And it is not season.

I agree that the prices of airbnbs have sky rocketed! The prices in this video are referring to shared hostel dorms which are so much more affordable, you can find plenty in Medellin and Mexico City for example from $6-12/night in January on hostelworld.com - they may not be the highest rated and it takes some research but it's still possible :)
