the trouble is parents who are sexualising innocent toys! So you have to ask about their mental condition! you know its mainly fundy christians in the usa whos children have an extremely high teen age pregnancy rate and std rate!
@jframe1978 Жыл бұрын
In the 2000s there was a caterpillar learning toy with letters on its feet. The letters made the sound and if you played them fast enough it would say words. Of course the first thing we did as parents was try all the curse words. They later recalled it and changed it to laugh when you tried to do this.
@RoMcCecАй бұрын
My daughter had this toy! It was made by Leapfrog. Our version was before it was fixed. HAHA!
@SpyricaDragosteАй бұрын
If a child that age KNOWS the swear words to type in why is that an issue? Clearly they don't live in a polite environment to begin with so them swearing would be the parents fault, the toy doesn't encourage it. You said its to learn to spell? Why the worry over a kindergartener typing in a swear word that they can't spell, and have never heard of? Why not instead, if they DO type in a bad word, explain WHY that word is bad and that while anyone CAN do something, they shouldn't?
@BologneyTАй бұрын
@@SpyricaDragoste That's very good reasoning, but in practice, a lot of the times when little kids get into some word they're not supposed to say or hear they just get SO caught up in that word in particular that they practically start chanting it and going into giggle fits about it. They do it until they get tired of it, then start ranting all over again a short time later. They miss the message entirely because they're so caught up in the naughty word and how fun it is to say and would force it out of a toy over and over. Then, on top of that, they'd show it to all their little friends, too, to impress them. Of course, you can BEAT the child to stop this, but not every parent wants to resort to that in the draconian way you have to to nip that behavior in the bud quickly. Even if the parent uses spanking as discipline a lot doesn't mean they want to do it for that or have a bought a toy that basically demands they beat their child to stop the behavior it brings about. Your suggestion is still the best response, but it can take A LOT of repetition to get that lesson to finally sink in, and with some kids they really only stopped saying the word(s) because they finally overplayed the joke long enough to stop. Also, even if your house is clean, everyone else's may not be, so your child will pick up a naughty word from someplace else.

okay, i am so tired of adults bashing on growing up skipper!! 🤬 i was 10 when skipper came out, and i absolutely loved playing with her!! she went from childhood to teenhood, which allowed me to act out possible scenarios for myself. because her body changed, she could wear different styles in each incarnation, to go with her new imagined activities. she was actually one of my favorite dolls, and that's the real measure of a toy's success to me..... how much kids enjoyed it. ☺️

I never owned any of these but I did own a creepy ventriloquist doll called the Willie Talk doll. I don’t remember what he said but I hated that thing. I threw it away. It came back. I found it in the attic at the bottom of a tall bin. That freaked me out. I threw it away again and watched the garbage men take it this time. Look it up. In the 1990s my mother sent my daughter the pregnant Barbie from Australia. We are not as hung up on things like that. Also when we lived in New Zealand, in the 1970s, I had one of the black dolls, they were called Golly Wogs. I also had a Topsy Tervey doll, she was black on one end, and white on the other. Depending on which way you flipped her dress, it uncovered either, the black or white side. Once again, certain countries do not take such offense, not even the native people that they are modeled after. It is sad how we get offended for certain ethnic groups, who they themselves were not offended, and actually had these toys themselves.

But when I was a little girl, me and my little brothers had that ET Finger and I am not kidding when I say that not once did we, or our friends or cousins, ever associate it with anything sexual. NEVER. Maybe we were too young and naive. We only saw it as a cool toy. I have never seen the entire hand version of it, LOL. I also had the Growing Up Skipper. I was like 4 or 5 years old. And even though when I grew older, the doll gave me a chuckle, I have to say it was never an issue when I was a 5 yr old playing with it. It was never something "sexual". I do recall my parents giggling over it, saying things to their friends like look at this doll, look what she can do! But as a kid, I didn't think about that at all, she was just another one of my Barbies really.

I just want to say that the Play Doh should not be on this list. Parents who complained can have a dirty mind all they want, but it resembles the actual tool used for icing cakes. I worked in a professional bakery and my training included cake decorating. I can tell you that looks like an actual icing tool, and clearly Play Doh knew that.

Could it be possible that "Baby's first baby" was inspired by the Star Trek episode "The trouble with Tribbles" ? The tribble is a fuzzy creature that multiplies rapidly and it was discovered they are born pregnant.

I have the play doe cake kit with the phallic shaped extruder. The problem is mostly the parents! Kids are innocent and if you (the parent) don't draw attention to it they won't either! Get your mind out of the gutter people!

The Golliwog doll was here in Australia too including Golliwog chocolate biscuits made by Arnott's. I loved my Golliwog. How is it racist? And what about Raggedy Anne that is racist too. In fact all dolls are racist and should be banned. People need to grow the fuck up and get over themselves.

I guess anything that reminds them of racist propaganda from.... When were Mistral shows still popular? Well there is a lot of hate and division going around where folks are holding up the sins of the past as an excuse to hate on anyone who they see as the descendants of the perpetrators...
@mikewebber2637Ай бұрын
Minstrel Shows were popular from some point in the later part of the nineteenth century until around the end of vaudeville in the 1920s.

I still don't see anything wrong with bratz, nor they where inappropriate. I grew up with bratz, barbie didn't have realistic body proportion's either. Plus the dolls where dressed to reflect the style of the 2000's.

The US seems to have dirty adult minds when it comes to kids toys, kids do not see the world the same including toys. Trying to hide the normal human body functions is rather immature.

There was a series of models available in the late 60s/early 70s made by the iconic model company Aurora. They featured a mad scientist and his chamber of torture. They included a "victim" figure that was a scantily clad woman in a cage that you could take her in and out of. So she could be tortured using various devices in other sets. I came from Akron and I thst there at least tv ads featured a local psychologist who ran the local Child Guidance Center. A real child therapist who called these toys healthy because they allowed children to express their repressed anger. This is all true and can be easily varified on the internet. I actually both recall them from that time and have seen them at vintage toy shows.

They have got to be kidding with that play dough complaint. That is a syringe. Big deal. An electronics repairman uses a number of syringes. One to dispense soldering flux, another for soldering paste, and finally one to dispense the much needed thermal paste that is used to protect the cpu. Also there is probably a syringe in the kitchen used to press out shaped cookies.

I remember seeing commercials marketing many of the dolls when I was a kid during Saturday morning cartoons. I also remember over hearing the girls' at school talking about how awesome the dolls were. I just thought of the dolls as weird and boring. Being a boy back then, I would much rather play with stompers.

I blame adults for their sick minds thinking these toys are sinister, in kids minds they are just fun to play with 🤣 But seriously, yeah, it's not a good look. btw, in the 60's, robertsons Jam had a golliwog as their logo, didn't make us racist.

For the troll doll with the button on the bottom, maybe they intended for the button to be pressed by sitting the doll down in a chair or something instead of touching it with your fingers.
