I use up excess spices by making meat rubs from them. It uses a lot of seasonings at once and you can mix most anything in there, same for making your own taco seasoning or curry, you can use up many items if needed. Also if you're doing oven roasted vegetables it's a great way to use up your herbs and different salts.

I just started decluttering my digital photos a few days ago. It seemed like such a daunting task that I kept putting it off. I disagree about the glasses. I always keep a pair of my previous prescription. My vision is so bad that if something would happen to my glasses I can’t see more than 3 inches from my face. I would rather be using blurry glasses for a bit than to be totally incapacitated.

My mom is a hoarder the existence of her room in our house sends anxiety and stress on me. She won't let anyone touch her stuff so. ugh. I'm trying to live minimal-ishly and trying to declutter and clean but we're on opposing sides. :( she never wants to throw out/donate furniture even though we already have a new one. Last year I bought a new entertainment unit and she cramped the old one in her room. she has 4 cabinets in her room but doesn't use them because it's all full of stuff she doesn't even know and her clothes are either in her bed or floor. she doesn't fold her clothes idk what's happening to her. Her room is just not only disorganized but dirty. she has water bottles and tissues all over for reasons only her knows, it's super dusty and smells musty. I can't even go there now, but i'm worried about her health, people should not sleep in dirty rooms.

Definitely sounds like your mom struggles with hoarding at a mental health level. That can be really hard to deal with for sure. I think I just love decluttering way to much. None of those things you mentioned were new to me and I had already decluttered them all. But to add something to the list, which is more complicated: It's friends and social media. Declutter people who are not good to you. Often we hold onto friendships that don't exist anymore. Hurting ourselfs and others by making promises to meet again, when we don't want to, not being a friend when they need one, or vica-versa. It helped me alot to break ties, and delete messages from people who are no longer in my life, but were still on my social media.

About hats...I dont like to wear anything at all on my head. My hair covers my scalp well enough, I have never been able to force myself to put anything on my head, and therefore I dont own anything thats supposed to go on the head.

I really feel the digital items point of yours, I've been struggling with it a lot lately. Can you make a video on it and show us simple ways to do that? Or do you have a video for that already?

Now is the best time to declutter digital stuff, since we're all sitting at home, sitting in front of our computers, we might as well clean up a bit ;) especially those desktops - you know I'm talking to you :p

Hi Ashlynne, thanks again for the great video! It seems like a lot of people (including me) have an issue with decluttering digital space , including phone memos etc... maybe a more detailed video on this might be really useful? I find it quite hard to set guiding questions, and I feel v overwhelmed by the 25,000 photos or 500 memos on my iphone 😂 how do you classify / “declutter” these? I know you have a laptop declutter video, but possibly another video idea!

LOVE this idea! I’ll definitely make a specific video on this!

Part of decluttering you email invoice that you didn't mention is UNSUBSCRIBING to things you don't read. Often people get sales emails from stores, for example, that go immediately into the trash. If you don't actually open the email ever, maybe it's time to open it up and find the link to unsubscribe.

It always surprises me when people say to get rid of old prescription glasses. I am basically blind without glasses, I do not buy 2 pair of glasses at the same time (since I never really need a second pair, because I take care of my belongings). I'm certainly not down with getting rid of my old glasses, because in the case of my new glasses breaking or whatever, wearing my old prescription glasses is a whole lot safer for my, and your, safety than wearing none. If, like me, you don't buy two pairs of glasses and you rely on your glasses, please, for the sake of all that is called common sense: keep your newest old pair of glasses! That way at least you'll keep yourself and everyone around you a whole lot safer when buying new prescription glasses and during the wait for them to get ready. Safety first people, safety first. 👍🏻🤓

Having a backup pair can definitely make sense, especially if you have a strong prescription. I think the issue becomes when you have 4 or 5 pairs hanging around your house. But it sounds like that isn’t and issue for you 😊
