For people worried about playing with strangers if you are still trying to break 100 - low handicaps don’t care how many times you hit. If you don’t rage when you hit bad, only take about 30 seconds to line up and hit your ball, and aren’t being super negative, I’m going to have a great round, and help you look for your ball in the trees. Your baus system sounds like a great way for players to stay positive and adjust their expectations! A positive golfer is a golfer who is going to make good decisions and play well

Thank you for posting that. I have broken 100 a few times, but I always have to find a group of friends to play with because I don't want to be added in to a group of good players. I never get upset playing golf. I think I might take one of those single tee times this weekend and just go out with a good attitude. I am also very cognizant of my pace of play. I will pick up before I slow people down.

I modified the scorecard at my home course to reflect your strategy. I showed it to the club pro, and he loved it! Our course just opened for the season (I'm in New England), and I played my first nine of the season applying Matt's system. I used a 3-iron off the tee. EVERY tee ball was on the fairway, and I was able to get on the greens with the modified GIR. Putting sucked, though: too many 3-putts. I could have shaved 5 strokes had I putted better. This system ROCKS!

I’ve been watching GSK for years. The one issue I’ve always had with this channel is the fact that the system that Matt uses relies on the assumption that the player can make proper contact. “Just break the approach up into 2 shots”. Thats fine as long as the high handicapper can make solid contact with both wedge approach shots. “Just take an iron or a hybrid off the tee”. Well, there are no fairway finder clubs for high handicappers. They are just as likely to duff a 7 iron off the tee as a driver. Need more videos like this where he takes duffs into consideration. I like it!

Matt is correct. I’m a 4 handicap, and whenever I play with someone who is less advanced in the game but they’re playing within themselves and only hitting shots they have some confidence in, I’m impressed and I think, “that’s good golf right there.” Plus, they keep up with pace of play because they spend most of the round in the fairway! And I have a pretty good short game, but in the winter here in Tennessee with wet, tight lies of dormant Bermuda, I use the handle high, toe down chipping 95% of the time, even from 50 yards out or so. Many higher handicaps could save 5-10 strokes a round just doing it, versus thinning and fatting lob wedges all day. G I O T G !

I'm just starting to play golf again after a 10+ year hiatus. In the past 10 years, I might have played 5 times until the last month. I played SOOO bad the past few rounds, and I was very discouraged. I watched this video and a few others of yours and I took some notes on my phone. I went out this morning by myself and incorporated several of your suggestions: 1) I stopped trying to hit PGA shots and I focused on hitting to safe spots; 2) I reduced the clubs in my bag to 5w, 6i, 8i, PW, SW, and putter; 3) I tried to not "hit" the ball, I focused on swinging the club; 4) The decision box/execution box; 5) Titties to the target! I didn't break 100 because my ball striking on the first 7-8 holes was horrendous and I 3-putted way too much. BUT, I figured out 3 things by the turn that helped my ball striking tremendously: 1) I swung the club closer to my body, 2) I straightened my left arm more and pulled it with my shoulder through the downswing, and 3) I started rotating my wrists more. After I got the feel for these 3 things, I was actually shaping the ball occasionally and it actually worked. Also at the beginning of my round the 6i was my 150 club, but by the back 9, my 8i was my 150 club. I also figured out that I was better off using a 6 or 8 iron for chipping, leaving the wedges for longer shots. Anyway, thank you. I know I'm going to be breaking 100 soon.

Just started in July. Had gotten 100 twice but never broke it. Decided to give the way of the playa a real try. Put my driver in timeout since that’s a 10% club for me. 50 on the front, 47 on the back including 3 pars and a birdie on the 17th on a par 3 over water. Only lost one ball The real thing that stuck out to me was just how much better of a result 2 pitching wedges is then a 4 hybrid and partial wedge / long chip. Free throw distances are a game changer Thanks Baus, I’m in the cult now

I broke 100 for the first time last season following Matty Boom Boom's advice. I had only 1 or 2 pars and never hit a green in "pro regulation". But I managed the course to hit only comfy shots and had only 35 putts. If instead of practicing 4 foot putts and playing smart I would have spent all week ripping drivers at the range and going for it every hole, I'd have shot 120 easily.
