i love this method but one issue i have on LA public golf courses which are typically pretty soft greens...i put a lot of spin on the chips and it checks way too hard and way too inconsistently. any tips for adding/reducing spin on chip shots?

Hey, Matt. I noticed that the 4.5% rule is in conflict with the (USGA?) metric of 36 x (5-iron distance). Being that you're a stats guy, I was wondering if you have any thoughts on that? in my case, the difference is about 1200 total course yards. Honestly, the 4.5% rule seems to be overly conservative...

Matty, I don’t know about your math but 295x22=6,490:yards 😂. If I take my average of 150 yard drives, I come up with a course I should play of 3300. This makes no sense as I have to play off the senior tees as the closest ones I’m allowed to play at my course. My handicap as of this morning is a 24.9 which keeps creeping up with the last 8 rounds with 4 rounds of a 97. Still trying to break 90! After a round I look back and count how many bad shots I make during the round, I figure I could get a 89 to 91, but it’s hard to not make any mistakes. Sometimes, I make a recovery and if I do and at least make a bogey, I don’t count the mistake shot I made on that hole. I don’t think golfing like Rory is in my cards EVER! I am still amazed at how well you make contact on almost every shot and how you get so close to the hole. You are the BAUS! Also I love and get a lot of comments on the 2 shirts I bought from you. The price was reasonable and how fast I got them from Thailand was as good as if I got it from the U.S.. 😊

Matt, you've got a great channel. I've watched a lot of your videos and like that you concentrate on course management rather than swing mechanics. I've come to realize how little I take into consideration from tee to green other than yardage. This vid regarding how turf and lie affect the club and ball is a real eye-opener. Amazing. I'm a mid-90s golfer, but I'm pretty confident I can get into the mid 80's with the advice you're giving. Thanks!

@GolfSidekickКүн бұрын
have a 'stock putt' that you hit on the practice green the same putting stroke each time you can take to any course and you'll see how far the ball finishes from you - that's your personal stimp
@andybrook-dobson726Күн бұрын
@@GolfSidekickMatt have you just dialled into your muscle memory that “stock putt”?
@GolfSidekickКүн бұрын
@@andybrook-dobson726 Yes you develop this stock putt on the practice green. Your body will remember it. You can memorize the backstroke to your outside edge of your back foot.

You talk about slope as a percentage, this would mean you would have to calculate the run to get a true percentage (which would require a mathematical calulation on each hole). Is this correct, or do you actually mean degree of slope?
