I LOVE Black Love. My husband & I are in our forty-first year. Even at 63yrs.old, I still learn. I learned from Chance that men are more prone to do something out of necessity, having to prove something. For him, it started out proving to father-in-law, that he was capable of caring for you. For my husband it was proving to my mother, the mother-in-law. Love you Tab & Chance!!!

Been married for 27 years and we’re still together only because we grew from our mistakes and intentionally tried to make changes to better our relationship. The wedding ceremony they attended was definitely a pivotal point in the relationship. I didn't grow up with an understanding of a woman's role and a man's role so when I was presented with marriage I didn't know what my role was, I just went for it. Men have an innate sense of responsibility to lead even when marriage isn't a model in their upbringing. Chance was ready to do the work. Tab was already in position,she was trained up in a way to be a wife by her daddy.

Married 26 years this year, I can relate to what they’re saying. I am a bit older, a bit taller and a bit fatter than my spouse, as much as I was liked , even loved by his family, I believe they thought we were a passing fancy. Often times y'all remind me of me and my Hubby. We didn't marry young, we were both in our mid 30s but we're completely opposites. He's Marine, my family is Army. He's a Mets fan, I follow the Braves. I cut the fool and he's serious. He's more sensitive, I don't give a flapping flip. We lived together for a year but on our second date (and we were already living together) he told me that if after a year and if we're still doing good that he was gonna ask me to marry 'em. He was only gonna ask once. After a year we got married unexpectedly because his Sistah and my Sistah was in town at the same time... our two witnesses, Best Woman and Maid of Honor all wrapped up in two people. We've been together for 24 years and married for 21. We had to deal with both of my Grandmama's passing, both of our Dads, his Brotha, my Auntie who was like a sister to me. Ooh and my Hubby was deployed to Iraq twice, he was one of the first Marines to march into Baghdad and he returned for the first anniversary. We had our haters who prayed that we wouldn't survive. Five times we almost threw in the towel. I told Hubby from the beginning that we wouldn't be because he walked because I made a vow with 'em but I made a covenant with God A'mighty. I can break the vow but I won't break the covenant. So I honor my Lord and Savior and my Hubby benefits. Don't get me wrong, I love this Man and couldn't imagine traveling along this journey with anybody other then 'em. Love endures all thangs... the negative words, the questions, insecurities, deployments, medical issues and even those times when ya don't like each other. My advice to others... stay focused on each other, a three strand cord is harder to break and keep ER'BODY outta your business/marriage. CONGRATS AND KEEP IT MOVING TOGETHER!!! 🎉🥂🍾💞

Hey Tab. Just watched this episode and so relate. My husband and I have been married for 41 years and just like you, we have for the most part done this on our own with very little input from family over the years. We had to do it on our own and yes the first 7 - 10 years were rough but we had to make it through because it was about more than just the two of us. We had children and we took our commitment to our family very seriously. We look back now and are grateful for the storms that we overcame together because they have strengthened us as individuals and as a couple. Folks look at us as relationship goals too but like you I advise them that it took a lot to get us here so be prepared to do the work. Wishing you many more years of happiness together.
