Not too sure why people are complaining about the fakes. A lot of the cheaper stores like Ally, Valley Girl and so on copy or gain inspiration from from luxury or high end brands. Recently when I went into Betts a lot of their shoes look like they were from Gucci. I think as long as no one tries to pass it as being the real thing I think it's fine.

Fakes actually hurt the real brands. Since people can get the fakes for so cheap it forces down the value of the real luxury item. Hence how brands that used to be considered for high status are now found in department stores lol

I have worked as a product developer/designer at a fairly large company and for everyone who is complaining - have you ever bought anything at a $2 store? Then you've bought a dupe. Companies like Hasbro design things like toys and then copies come out, but no one cares. Also if they'e from china, it's not all evil and child labour. Most would come out the Yiwu markets - go google if you're interested

These "fakes" in particular are imitating a designer brand's bag, not actually purporting it to be the real thing. It doesn't have the Chanel logos or anything, its not attempting to disguise itself as the real thing. And I think as long as the consumer knows its not a real product and they know they are paying for an imitating or a fake, its okay to sell. I'm not concerned about Chanel or Gucci going out of business because of fakes, they simply aren't losing business due to fakes. I think people that can and want to buy an expensive designer bag will, and they won't buy a fake because its cheaper, they want the real deal. People who can't afford to pay for a real bag anyway, but still want one, are the ones buying imitations. The problem becomes when you start claiming fake bags as the real thing. Then you are lying to consumers.

Just make sure to read ALL the reviews of everything before you buy. Also many different sellers have exactly the same items so look for the highest rated items and compare them because some are jst copies of copies and made or really shoddy tacky materials.

Speaking as someone who has a couple of replica bags, the reason why I don’t buy the real thing is because designer bags are very expensive and I would be too scared to it so that’s why I have replicas

Same with anything that I could wear, I wouldn't buy something expensive because clothes or bags can get teared and get destroyed by using it. With something like Scale figures for example which you just display, I'd go for the originals even if it's expensive but the risk of ruining them is pretty low of you take care. No matter what you do, clothes will wear of eventually or you spill something on it.

Just Nicki Gaming That may be true in some cases but everyone always claims that they don't promote child labor and still do, there have been so many scandals about that already. Also good quality items can be purchased by "no name" brands as well of you pay a little above the average, while brands like Gucci sell their names mostly...it's immensely more expensive to buy and in most cases not even better in quality what you could get for hundreds cheaper. Of course it's important to pay attention to what you buy, buying the cheapest products can be an indication for child labor/poor working conditions or questionable gain of fabrics. I'm also from Europe, cheers!

Honestly, buying dupes of Chanel, Gucci etc doesn't impact the big brands much, generally the people buying those dupes are people who can't afford the real thing anyway, so the big brand isn't losing because we wouldn't have bought it anyway. I don't believe in copying designs from smaller brands and artists, but like you said, buying fakes just motivates you to save up for a real one even more.

Amy Fawcett yeah but when you buy these fakes from those companies you are suporting a company that doesnt respect human rights of the workers . Some even use child labour and harmuful chemicals for the enviroment when making the fabric . Also producing fakes is illegal and i read some of those comapnies use the money for other illegal activities like human traffic or drug

That's true and I didn't even think about that. I don't even own a handbag, and my purse is a legit brand one, but I wouldn't buy fakes personally, rather just legit brands who bring out something very similar.

That’s true, but some big brands don’t respect child or just labour laws in general. Just because it’s a big brand, doesn’t mean they always do ethical things.

stealing intellectual property is theft regardless if its from a big business or a small one. as long as they are not trying to pass it off as the original, bearing no similar markings, then its inspired. copy it and put the back to back c's on a purse, and its a fake and illegal and should not be supported.
