I love 1 mile racing. Much better than 1/8 or 1/4. It's amazing how cheap 2000+ horsepower engines have got with the new turbo technologies. It would be unfathomable 15 years ago. Heck you can get a junkyard 4.8 or 5.3 and get 1200+ horsepower with a cheap turbo and a stock bottom end. Heck, the old Ford 5.0's would split in half at anything over 400-450 horsepower. Compared to the new Coyote 5.0's it's night and day
@xx_ironman77_xx1 Жыл бұрын
Cool but nothing beats an na motor that can spin an top fuel roots blower your 400 hp na turbo 4.8 ,5.3 can’t do that na 😆 1 mile racing is cool but prefer 1/2 mile roll racing that’s where it’s at rn 1/8 and 1/4 mile drag racing is the gold standard for drag racing that and street racing

Considering the aero problems those cars have at those speeds, that is pretty impressive. Driving a 4th gen at 250 mph is like flying the space shuttle, you're not really flying, just trying to crash really softly.

Imagine how fast this would have gone if the driver didnt weigh as much as the car.
@egecamlikaya8 жыл бұрын
+The Angry Fapper its for grip on the beginning dude :D:D
@droceretik8 жыл бұрын
Weight has little effect on top speed given a long enough straight but top speed is a function of power and aero drag. This car with a 300 lb driver will reach the same top speed as this car with a 150 lb driver although it may require 20 or so yards more to achieve that speed. Image how much better you could think if you didn't have such a fat filled head with a peanut in the center.
@kevins59118 жыл бұрын
imagine how fast he would have gone if he wasn't taking a nap during the whole run? At least he woke up at the end to deploy the chutes. But the overweight driver is probably necessary to keep the nose down at high speed I hope, otherwise that car has another 10mph in it with a simple driver swap.
@jjs4you217 жыл бұрын
Kevin S Well he would have went a lot slower if they didn't tell him they had 3 Big Mac's, 2 Large Fry, 2 Apple Pies and a Large diet Coke Oh wait, he's watching his weight, make it a small diet Coke, all waiting for him at the finish line!
@kevins59117 жыл бұрын
+jjs4you21 Also I heard one of the greatest challenges for the team was getting the driver in and out of the vehicle so after carful consideration and computer modeling they realized That the F-body Camaro would be necessary for this project to be successful as using a crane and a small crew the driver could be easily hoisted straight up thru the removable t-top.without having to remove then re-welding the side paneling and doors of the vehicle. I also heard that a major hurdle was Keeping the car going straight on not veering dangerously to the left which would be catastrophic at high speed, so after many design tweaks and trial and error they realized the only way was to run smaller diameter wheels on the right side of the vehicle than on the left which caused the vehicle to naturally veer to the right countering the tendency to go left essentially allowing the car to keep in a straight line. They also had issues corner balancing the vehicle due to the car dropping all the way down to the bump stops when the driver was in the vehicle which caused the car to have 0 suspension travel but thankfully a quick thinking engineer came up with a quick and easy fix by welding in both the frame rails and suspension from a tri-axel dump truck which thankfully cheaply fixed the problem. Unfortunately after realizing the weight penalty of the driver they elected to use and already placing him in the vehicle they quickly realized the cost of the heavy machinery and 6 man crew needed to safely remove the driver was not financially viable and instead hoping that more boost and HP would give them the best odds at making a decent run, but realistically they knew based on the power to weight ratio numbers that being the fastest standing mile car was essentially impossible. Another hurdle that plagued this project was stopping the vehicle after the finish line was crossed, as engineers calculated the inertia of this amount of rolling mass to be equivalent to the space shuttle landing and quickly realized a normal chute would not be up to the task of stopping this vehicle but thanks to the end of the space shuttle program they were able to purchase the exact same chute that was used on the space shuttle endeavour which was more that up to the task to safely bring the Camaro to a stop. The entire project was way over budget and after asking the Crew chief what he would do different next time he quickly replied "Get a lighter driver" The End -Now I believe I saw this article in a magazine somewhere or maybe I made it all up, but a lot of points do seem plausible so take it with a grain of salt. But that was a solid run never the less

At those speeds a extra 700hp would net you about a extra 5mph just ask the ford GT guy's. AT 250mph plus U need absurd amount of power to get those extra mph's. That 1800hp Gallardo would probably get a lil more than 5mph with 2500hp, Aerodynamics just as important Hp in the mile.
@goo59768 жыл бұрын
Kevin S im seein what youre saying, however, what I meant was that since the road is so bumpy, if it had better aero due to less bumps in the road, added power from the x package etc it should be doing atleast 280 with 2500hp,

Is a turbocharger or supercharger better for increasing torque at speeds less than 60 mph?
@sleisch83311 жыл бұрын
supercharger. with a turbo, the boost relies on the exhaust gasses to spin the turbine with the supercharger the belt goes directly to the crank therefore no lag in boost at lower speeds like with a turbo
