The graphics aesthetics and electronic music of the late 90s, early 3D acceleration on PCs. Those were the days. Funny, previously I was watching video about the PS1 aesthetics, but then I also remembered at the next gen and be like what about the early Voodoo acceleration PC aesthetics. And those colored lights or blending purple clouds. Something is lost..
@VintageModernRemixes4 ай бұрын
I agree with everything you said. That era of gaming was the last stage before it got into the uncanny valley of looking-real-but-not-quite and I haven't enjoyed the aesthetics of games since.

One of the quintessential 'city' tracks for UT99. I cannot help but think of the towering skyscrapers and the light of the beetling people far below. I love how effortlessly UT blends a Philip-K-Dick Cyberpunk with interplanetary hard sci-fi. Lovely and crisp as ever VMR!
@VintageModernRemixes10 ай бұрын
This one really paints a scene for sure. It could match with anything sci-fi, any video game, or I guess anything that involves running 🏃

It's crazy just how many of these songs I forgot, but as soon as I hear them, quickly reminded how great they are. Game still looks amazing after all this time too. I wish we could crowdfund someone buying the IP from EPIC and give it someone that would respect it. Do a complete remaster of the game.

There are so many veterans of Unreal Engine projects that it could happen. I just can't believe Epic insulted its userbase and legacy by just delisting the old games rather than releasing the source code.

@@VintageModernRemixes Fact! Even after everyone in our local LAN party group got better machines, we had a "punishment" machine for folks who were being a pain especially on CTF games, an old Pentium MMX box doing software rendering on some potato graphics card, and one of those terrible 12" monitors from an IBM PS/1-- pretty sure the thing had a color TV CRT in it.
