I've remembered this game's soundtrack about a year, or two, ago. Not that I remembered it, one melody/song just started playing in my mind from out of the blue. That same melody kept doing that since I've stopped playing Unreal Tournament like, 10 years ago, idk. Anyways, 2 years ago I decided to try to find and listen to the song on KZbin. I did, greatly enjoyed it, and that was it. A year later, again it came to my mind. I started listening to it, and then gave a few more Unreal Tournament songs a play. Enjoyed them mostly thoroughly, but again, after that one sessions, I didn't listen to it actively. 6 months ago I started listening to the soundtrack at work and it is great for me. It helps me keep focused. There is no emotion being stirred within me by this music, at least not the sort of emotion that "the rest" of the music that I listen to does stir; That emotion being the kind that makes me feel like suffocating, like I will never have the happiness and perfection that I get from those songs, that I get from the books I read and anime I watch. I can enjoy it without becoming emotionally unstable. As I've said, it helps me with my focus. I've been listening to this, Skyward Spiral and some few other songs, regularly for the past 6 months, in sesions lasting for hours without yet having had "enough" of it. It's enjoyable without making me feel like I'm unable to fill my lungs with air.

You posted this important comment two years ago. So, I'm sorry for the late reply. Not likely you will see/read my comment. Likely much has changed for you in the past 2 years. I remember playing UT99 when it came out over 20 years ago. The Skyward song is a favorite. I'm doing a revisit of old game songs. Skyward. It's balanced. Dreamy drifting keyboard melody with a good drum set beat to keep that timing going. Quote. "It helps me keep focused". I think I can understand that. It's a,,, neutral song. Settling/soothing and yet has a beat you could bounce to. It calms and inspires the mind. I have to have music running in my head as I work. Is that odd?

The classic Unreal Tournaments were so good, like many other games of that period, even though the graphics and features were minimal. I wish modern games could go back to these type of immersive experiences. Too much emphasis now on amazing technology.
@polar01013 жыл бұрын
".. even though the graphics and features were minimal" when this game came out, this graphic was the mega hyper super top, it was the first specialized game for this multi-shooter deathmatch,capture the flag category,competed with the quake arena, every gamer magazine was write about that and compared this two game,in every way, if I remember correctly, or they had an equal fan base or more people played with unreal, the music added a lot to his experience.I didn’t even know a quake fan in my environment.

This is not a give and take. Unreal Tournament was amazing technology for it's time and also was packed to the brim with fun an features. Now a days you get "amazing graphics" and a hollow shell of boredom. They don't have an excuse. They just don't care. They stopped making games for gamers and now make games for shareholders.

@@vanilla8956 yes, 2 processes cause this, everywhere in the entertainment industry: -one is that technology has become accessible to everybody such as in film-making, game-making, music-making, the offers has become great, there is a lot of anti-talent, and only the numbers of visitors,popularity,fame,and money is the motivation (and because they want to show something new and newest.., the content is already turning into extreme, and then the contents already hurting others) in the past, it took a lot of money and tools to make a film, therefore only very motivated people started a film making with important(good role model theme) content and well-chosen actors) - the other is that it has become an industry, completely empty teams are manufacturing on a conveyor belt just for profit

As soon as it starts it’s like a breath of fresh air… and the deeper you get into it, the farther you transcend further and further into atomically driven portions of life. The wind, the air itself, the suns rays, the ground beneath you, the very world itself around you. The pinnacle of serendipity, subtle yet driven with such immeasurable force, moving perfectly and smooth yet so fiercely and jagged that it cannot cannot be discoursed. The magnificence of great known and little unknown lies beyond mind and beyond the self but into a place where time energy and matter all fades into one and one fades into none. I am binary. I am code. I am zero. I am one. I am identifiable yet I do not exist. I am.

I had to make a comment. Your comment is more than good. You see much more than I have. You LOVE this Skyward Fire music. It's my favorite of the UT songs. I don't know how to describe it right. It's dreamy. Makes me imagine things. Then there is the bouncy beat you want to bounce to. Then it quiets down and loops back. I've been listening to it as I write this reply. This comment is from a guy that played UT99 25+ years ago at the age of 40 something from back then. No joke. Now? I no longer have that fast skill. Advice. Keep you skill trained.
