To think were watching this video nearly 40 years later. That 40 years previously, when this was filmed. It was just after World War 2 had ended in Europe, on the 8th of May 1945. With Japans surrender in August 1945. ....................................................................... It`s interesting to slow the video down. You get a better view of the shops, & people. And the music stil sounds good.

Same here. I was one of Maggie Thatcher's Army (the 3 million unemployed) so basically bugger all money. 🙁 But I had my youth and perfect health. Those are things you can never get back again.

Good to see old style Cas when it wasn't full of vape shops, Turkish barbers, nail bars, European mini markets full of crap pop & tat & numerous take-aways all selling the same food, Just genuine shops that provided the local community with the everyday essentials. If I had a time machine I wouldn't hesitate to go back ... Who's coming with me ??🤔

Along with Asda, supermarket There was Bakers, & Grandways, in town. Also Currys, Valances, & the Tv & video rental shops. For all your electrical needs. Plenty of clothes, Shoe shops.etc, etc, etc...... And free parking at the time, was a lot better than online shopping.

@@Matt_moran78 There was Celias on Bank Street, till the late 70`s. But that went when they pulled loads of buildings down. When they built the roundabout & dual carrigeway. And Angies records in the indoor market

Mobile phones were much bigger back then than landline phone handsets are now. They were enormous and few people used them. The real mobile phone back in 1985 was a car phone, and they were car accessories for people with money to burn.

@@muckle8 from the video you can see that roughly 50% of cars are fords and vauxhalls and the rest made up of french cars, german makes and a splattering of far east motors, guess it would be nissan, datsun, toyota mainly back then. I dont have a problem with SUVs, there all pretty decent looking things but they all look the same, too many of them and the roads are too cluttered now

I hate SUV,s - can’t see the point of them at all - they also are difficult to see past/through when following , I’m adamant these vans with windows must be increasing the accident rate in the Uk.
