This scene makes me a little sad because it kinda shows how close friends who have grown apart are more likely to bring up things that have annoyed them for many years, now that they don't feel as much of a bond that would normally prevent them from hurting each other's feelings. So what used to passive aggressive joking turns into something more mean spirited.

@@omarsheriff51 Don't think just because this is more crude it has more substance. A lot of Tarantino's dialogues are either giving insights or building the story through the characters in a big way, but since they are in their everyday lives if you aren't paying attention they seem banal, like the foot massage conversations that build up and set the tone for the date and it's aftermath in Pulp Fiction. i don't think this scene as anything to do with a Tarantino dialogue either, they are straightforward discussing men ratings, not getting to the subject from another one - there is no subtext.

Sure. I've gotten into fist fights with friends before and made up later on. Peppers character was just full of himself and needed to be checked. Again, they are friends, but friends need to be checked.

Monty values their friendship as a memento. They've all grown apart, especially Jacob and Frank. They see each other for who they are now, not how they used to be. Frank is selfish, Jacob is a wanderer, and Monty's conviction has opened all their eyes about how things have changed.
