The structure of the show really is what keeps me interested. Establishing what he enjoys and wants out of the food and that’s how he decides what’s best for HIM. Makes the show a lot more personal instead of a face just talking about how good the food is. It’s like following the host on his journey to pick his favorite places that serve his favorite food.

You know how Americans giggle at people with "silly" accents? As a Spaniard I thoroughly enjoy Americans making up how stuff in spanish is pronounced without a moment of hesitation. The confidence is commendable.
@jonathonross44476 жыл бұрын
Sometimes in the US it is considered pretentious to dote too thoroughly on foreign words. Considering how much of English is borrowed from other languages and how many cuisines and cultures are represented in the US, it can be difficult to know what to casually anglify and what to give your best effort. My favorite example is hors d’oeuvres. We have borrowed this term from French, which we pronounce “or-dervs”, when the real pronunciation is “or-duvruh” (including vowel sounds that don’t exist in English). It would seem very out of the ordinary to pronounce it in proper French when speaking with other Americans.
@Kokorisu6 жыл бұрын
Jonathon Ross I get it, that's the case pretty much here in Spain. People pronounce English words badly enough to sound like they're hardly trying, but still have that touch. Ah, culture, I love you so.
@WimpyMcWeaksauce6 жыл бұрын
@Jonathon Ross Another example: pronouncing "croissant" correctly is a meme now. It's so out of a place saying croissant right, that Americans will laugh at you. Or really anything French. At least Spanish words won't usually get you any funny looks. Actually, mispronouncing simple things like "tortilla" is likely to elicit a chuckle in most of the US.
