For anyone having issues with the Sentret cave (specifically only Sandshrew and Geodude spawning), from my observations it seems that Sentret and Furret only spawn specifically in the cave when its nighttime. It's a bit odd but at least it does work

There's a cave about halfway between Ogerpon's cave and the Crystal Pool where swinub appear to be the only spawn even without any sandwich power. Should be just as easy as sentret's cave.

Probably the easiest spawn in the game. All it is just swines. You can even try for a jumbo or teeny shiny lvl3 sandwhich here, since encounter power makes no difference.

17:57 I tried testing this during the day a few times with Encounter/Shiny Power 3 Normal to see, and I saw Starly and Staravia spawns only. I did notice though that it seemed like Austin was at the point in the story with the perpetual "evening" time which could be a factor as to why there weren't any spawns. Unfortunately I don't have any files left that haven't finished the DLC story so I can't really test that. As an extra note: Yes, I know about the cave where there are Hoothoot and Noctowl spawns. I just wanted to test Austin's hypothesis for the sake of curiosity.

There is a cave that only has hoothoot and clefairy, on the outside of Oni Mountain northwest of KitaKami Hall. On the map just north of KitaKami Hall you'll see two trees with one on a green patch and one on the mountain side; if the two trees made a line and you followed that line across the river, the cave entrance is on the rectangular green patch that falls on the same line. Drop a flying sandwhich and fly from the cave, across the river, to high ledge that's just far enough away to despawn the cave pokemon. Then jump back into the cave, and spawn some golden owls!

What I love about the DLC is how the caves only ever have 1 (maybe 2) pokemon that regularly spawn there, so even without a sparkling sandwich you can still hunt them so easily. While I was still avoiding the plot, I found the save under the Hall hill and I got a shiny Sandshrew in like 10 minutes (with a Lv2 ground encounter sandwich, which honestly didn't really change the spawn rate lol) Then I found a Hoothoot cave, the Carbink cave, a fully Geodude cave... It's so dang easy to hunt shinies here, I love it :D

For the Koffing, it knows explosion and memento (and might know self destruct, but from testing it seems to know belch instead). It can also have neutralizing gas which negates damp ability. You can get a drifblim with imprison, explosion, memento, and self-destruct. I don’t believe self destruct is necessary so either thunderwave or hypnosis to catch the Koffing easier is probably worth while

I would like to just add, and I'm sure this is already well known by now but I just picked up the dlc yesterday and noticed this almost immediately, there are caves literally everywhere that seem to only spawn one specific Pokémon or maybe one family of pokémon. I've seen this so far with sandshrew, geodude, and hoothoot. You can pretty easily just drop a sandwich, and walk in and out of the cave a bunch to keep respawning until you get a shiny. You can also just as easily knock out 60 of them to increase the odds until you get one. I did this with hoothoot last night, my first kitakami shiny, and it only took like 20 minutes.

I think everyone benefits from having an unbiased third party to talk things thru with… ideally a therapist. It is lovely that parties like yourself are willing to be open and talk about the necessity of it (when needed) and how it benefits you, personally. On a broader topic… your channel helped me rediscover my love of Pokémon and gaming in general… and reminding me that no one is ever too old for Pokémon.

Some info that might help others is that Volbeat and Illumise are pure Bugs, not Flying types, so shouldn’t mess with your hunts for Yanma or Ducklett!

As a note, the area just north of Wisteria Pond and just south of Wistful Fields, I personally found, to be much better in hunting Mienfoo. Only Mienfoo appears, and it's all a flat surface in a straight line. No chance of missing one above or below you.
