Yeah! You should use a lavalier mic though, they are not expensive and they will sound better for voice than other very expensive mics, because they are a lot closer, so it won't have all that reverb and your voice will be a lot clearer.

Love this video. OneNote from an electrician though. If an extension cord has an impact on your cook time, the cord wires are too small. This is bad for the appliance, and it is potentially a safety hazard. Big box (Lowe’s, HomeDepot, etc) or hardware stores sell a variety of cords in different gages. Also the longer the cord, the heavier gage it needs to be.

Great list. I would add 27 don't pull part of the sealing ring out and then just keep pulling. Work your way around. The rivets under the retaining ring can snap if too much force is applied. 28 buy an extra sealing ring and use one for sweet/low flavour foods, and one for strong savoury foods like chillies, curries, beans, etc.

The spoon/ladels that come with most instant pots with the "standard" release valves actually fit onto the release valve - use the handle end where there's a hole for hanging the utensil, it should pretty much fit on perfectly 👍🏻

If you’re that afraid, let it sit for a while. It doesn’t have to be quick released. I’ve always used my finger & have NEVER burned myself. All you have to do is touch the the little protruding thingy and move it with the slightest twitch of your finger. If your big enough to cook, then your big enough to bend your finger.

If you use an extension cord with your instant pot you need to use a heavier gauge Appliance cord because a regular extension cord can't handle the amount of Watts that the instant pot uses.
@robertgoetsch6790
@robertgoetsch6790 4 жыл бұрын
came here to say this. absolutely nothing wrong electrically when using the right cord. mine is 18 awg and can be found by searching for heavy duty extension or 18awg extension. that being said, do be careful if you need to use any extension cord because of the increased likelyhood of tripping over or accidentaly pulling on the cord... which could be bad news. short cords are a safety feature for many appliances...

@@robertgoetsch6790 Wrong way! 18 awg is smaller than 16, which most household extension cords are. Wire gauge numbers are backwards, smaller number is larger wire. 14 awg will handle 1500 watts up to a reasonable distance, 25' or so.

I totally agree, In our RV I have to be careful with overloading circuits, I installed a dedicated 20 amp outlet for a portable air conditioner, now that it is winter I use a heavy duty 14 gauge / 10 ft. long extension cord and plug in any high draw appliance I need it for. works great. I have used it for portable electric heater, air fryer, instant pot, counter top dishwasher... the list goes on. never a problem if you use the correct equipment.

Hey, just wanted to make the comment that my husband who fixes furnaces heard your last tip, and he said that your problem is likely that you're using an extension cord with too small of a gauge. A heavy-duty extension cord should fix the problem. Doesn't have to be longer, just a thicker gauge.

Excellent tips. Even those of us who have been cooking for years can learn a thing or two from your video. As far as the music goes: This is the first video of yours that I've watched, so I can't compare with/without for yours, but I usually find that music with an instructional video distracts rather than enhances.

A must-watch for new owners like me. Thank you! One question about your instructions to not use milk as the liquid in a recipe. Does this mean when the only liquid is milk? I used a mixture of liquids that included milk and cream (didn't have half/half) to make risotto and had no problems with the results (in fact it was perfect). How much milk is too much milk? As for music/no music. I vote for no music.

Quick note: if you are having problems with an extension cord,. you are likely using a cheap (lamp) extension. If you have an industrial grade extension (15-20A. like used for power tools), It should be fine. Hard to find one 6 ft or shorter, but I have one. I haven't tried it with the pot, because I have no need. And it's busy extending my microwave oven ;)

#27 Don’t forget to put the seal back on your instant pot before using it after cleaning it. I've done this more than once. It will function without the seal, but it won't work. This is a great video. I felt the face palm of mistakes I've made and learned some new stuff too.😁👍

The Instant Pot Duo Nova has an automatic sealing knob that seals the pot when the lid is fully locked in place, and you push down on the sealing knob to vent with quick release. I strongly agree with your tip to only cook basic things in the Instant Pot when you are a beginner.

Great tips! Make oatmeal first and eggs for egg salad second. =) Third meal - make pressure cooked beef short ribs - big payoff on that one. Big tip for me... learn how to use the timer. I love waking up and having breakfast (oatmeal - just oats and water) ready for the kids already.

I'm a newbie and loved your tip about the sealing ring and not storing with the lid on. I cooked some broccoli the other day and when I went to use my pot, I wondered why it still had a faint smell of broccoli even though I had washed the top and inner pot. Now I know why! Many thanks.

Thank you! I like the presentation without music. I am a very experienced instant pot user so I knew most of what you presented. I admit I didn’t know that the slow cooking function cooks at a lower temp than a regular crock pot. I’ve not ever used that function as I like my slow cooked food in stone ware. I always leave my instant pot on the back burner of my glass top stove. It never occurred to me someone could turn on the burner. It’s just my husband and me, so that’s not going to happen. I like the convenience of the exhaust fan right above the pot when I release pressure. Just make sure when you release pressure you don’t direct the steam at the light bulbs. I never had an issue in my house, but I once broke the bulbs in my son’s house. Nice presentation!

My wife also puts it on our gas stove. She puts a baking sheet on the grating so the IP has a more stable base. A round pizza pan would also work.

@@philso7872 I use a glass plate from a microwave that I got at a thrift store, which has them every once in a while. I was lucky enough to get a round one that exactly fits under the Instant Pot. Did this because using the IP directly on the counter discolored the counter top.

I think that each brand of instant pots may work a bit differently. I use the slow cook setting and and it only adds maybe 30 to 45 minutes extra, when on high, maybe 1 hour or so on low. I would suggest doing a test before assuming that you are going to have to cook it twice as long.
