Third in a row! Okay, we gotta agree that Enviro 400 MMC Voith are the most characteristic favourable and loveable buses in the whole of UK. I would call it rare if I’m lucky to have a driver that can manipulate a gearbox and perform a “Kickdown” You did an amazing job Frozzles, pls don’t stop posting my bro!

All about hearing the different tones when the engine is revving, as well as noticing different shift patterns when the bus is moving. There are some videos out there explaining the “audible” differences

@@Frozzles Similar story up here in the North West. Majority of the fleet now is Euro 5/Euro 6 voith crap without kickdown although saying that, they can perform in a very similar way to this MMC you've uploaded!

I did NOT expect this type of video to ever be created. *Some* of TLs SHs happened to be the worst buses out of the garage since most of them have been ISA'd therefore making them absolute slugs. but I guess this video proved me wrong. To be fair tho, other SHs there do actually FLY. Would've actually preferred a B5LH but yk it is what it is. Nonetheless, great vid as always Frozzles!!

They didn't use any drugs, it's purely down to the style of drive! Their redline is 2800rpm.

Im a musician and the gearbox is actually in tune with the engine although a few octaves higher. On a side note you can give Cummins 6.7's so much abuse and they don't care.

Great video, voith is an amazing gearbox uno, you got this driver to absolutely abuse it on this one these have a great engine as it is and this video really shows it, great comeback for the tridents they replaced Heres an idea, You should do a video where you have the cover open where the gearbox is on a voith bus like a E200MMC or Streetlite like how they do it in other countries so that we can really hear everything

Thanks, Voith’s been amazing, just nerfed by the heavy restrictions. As much of a flaw to passenger comfort they can be, especially with streetlites… on the “veg” side of things you can still get what you want out of them Good idea 🌚

I don't even mind the restrictions on the Voith Gearbox because the sounds the voith gearbox produces dont ever disappoint 😂 you got the straight cut gears producing the whining noise following rpm in pitch and the great Retarder whilst braking, and then theres also this whizz noise it does on high rpm sometimes and some zapping noise when it changes gear 1-2 sometimes

Yes with an electric motor between the engine and gearbox, which stores energy in a battery when the bus brakes, then that energy is used for acceleration and other electrical auxiliaries

Amazing video! Very very reminiscent of the ALX400 tridents then you used to get around those areas. Uprated ZF MMCs give quite a pushback on full throttle, does this do the same?

I'm not saying they can't go into Limp mode cause ik they can but this person is acting as if it's something common 😂

The 109’s MMCs are actually hybrids. These are diesels with stop start technology

109 MMCs are Series Hybrids, engine is used to run a generator which provides electric power to the traction motor which drives the wheels. These are diesel buses with a 48V motor mounted between the engine and gearbox, other electrical components are also featured but I won’t go into too much detail, you can search it up 👍🏾
