Hi Jody. Thank you thank you thank you for being you. Love how genuine you are, and all the explanations have value (more so now that Ive been learning for almost 2 years now). Thanks for talking addressing how it’s more important if paint dries true to color even if additive appears to dull it’s appearance. This is a very important note. This painting is really pretty and had to have been satisfying. So glad so see you back 😊😊
@ThePaintedDreamer10 күн бұрын
Aww thank you so much, I appreciate that :). For a long time I thought my pigments or paints had to "look" a certain way mixed up but then I realized as long as they are drying as they are supposed to or more importantly the way I want them to then them being mixed up a little dull doesn't seem to matter. It's all personal preference at the end of the day but I'm glad that explanation helped! :)

I’m so glad that you are back painting and sharing your art with us all. I would like to add that, I’m glad you still are doing smaller paintings instead of these larger than life canvases. I’d much rather have a few 10x10 pieces to admire versus one over sized piece. Keep presenting yourself as you do, you are fantastic. Happy New Year to you and may the year ahead be filled with great happiness! By the way: This one is beautiful

Awesome to see you painting again. Very much appreciate your talk-throughs! I struggle with the PPG, just too darn thick, then the glidden is too thin. I need to find a Goldilocks pillow paint.
@ThePaintedDreamer7 күн бұрын
Thank you! 🤗 have you tried leaving the lid off the Glidden to see if it will thicken? I heard others doing this to help their pillows thicken. I also know some others use the Glidden essentials, have you tried that? I’ve tried it myself and I almost feel like the can I had was in between the PPG and the Glidden premium 😊
@pinkmyhair-JeCroisArt7 күн бұрын
It is the essentials that I have. I may try leaving the lid off for a few hours, stir it up and see how it looks.

Hey Jodie. Lovely piece, more wonderful that its a set of 3. The side by side would be a great exhibition. I see it as the three in a line, where the one that was auctioned replaced with a nice print from a frame grab in the center, flanked by its siblings, and the details of the Hurricane Relief in a text block below. Maybe a colored wall to allow the pillow white to pop... I have a tip for cold weather painting, where sometimes I'll put my paints into a warm water bath before using just to get things flowing a bit better. I use the same technique for my epoxy work fluidity. In summer, sometimes I use a cool water bath if I want a bit more syrup texture (so more dense). How about a Christmas Tree pillow transfer, swiping curved branches? Happy holidays!
@ThePaintedDreamer10 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! I love that idea, I did take some pics of the one that was sold but this one and then the next one I'm going to show actually are all different yet similar. My wall space is limited right now but actually you just gave me a good idea in maybe doing that digitally instead with all three pieces! I like that idea for the final video with these :D Good tips on the paints also! That reminds me when I used to resin I would put the resin in front of the heater before mixing it up, I wonder if that would work as well as the warm water bath. Do you have any trouble with them drying since they do get a bit cooler as they stand and then when they are on the piece drying?
@IFS10 күн бұрын
@@ThePaintedDreamer Cool! It's always fun when an idea spawns an even better one. Looking forward even more for the final video now :) In front of the heater should work, though not quite as fast or even as in a water bath because physics (think hand into an oven vs hand into pot of hot water). I just use water hot from the tap, fill one of those "soak your feet" buckets and put my sealed tubes and cans of paint in for about 1/2 hr (sometimes longer, as the bath gets cooler as time passes, so no rush) before then mixing up my colors. I'm keeping some of my big can of pillow paint in a smaller can, enough to do a couple of paintings. After I'm done painting I then refill the smaller can. I haven't seen any problem with drying, certainly no weird movement or such. But I do work steadily once the paint comes out of the bath to be mixed and then used. Now if the studio was to get below freezing then bad things would probably happen. Crap, now I have to do a painting and set it outside to freeze while wet just to see what it would look like. Cells or imprints from ice crystals? Winner Winner, chicken dinner or cold frozen pizza? :P
@ThePaintedDreamer6 күн бұрын
@@IFS Ahhh yea that make sense but I premix my paints and let them sit for quite awhile before painting so I'll try the heater method and see what happens :) Let me know how those paintings dry with your experiments! :D
@kbs3610 күн бұрын
Jodi, I was so excited to see a new video. One question, at 5:23 you were mixing up Benevolence, you said you dispersed it will GAC800. Is this being mixed with the paint instead of floetrol as the medium? Thank you for your time.
@ThePaintedDreamer10 күн бұрын
Oh I'm so glad! :) All of the paints and piggies are mixed up with the pouring medium and the cell activators I use are the only thing mixed up with the floetrol. The piggies, as with any other dry pigment, you need to disperse them in something first (basically wet and dissolve them) and then put them into whatever you are using for your pouring medium. You can just put them into your pouring medium but you run the risk of them not mixing properly and clumping up on you.
