That MSRP is sick high at 43,000+. Think about it, you could get a Marauder for $10,000,00 less. You could almost buy two stripped down Super Duty's for that price.

@@Johnnycdrums it's about 63,000 in 2022 which adjusted for inflation. People paid as much as 10k over MSRP when the car was first released. Katie Couric had one of the first ones made for 2002.

The retro Thunderbird, to me, seemed like a great idea at the time. I’m not sure the sales numbers were what Ford was expecting. Seemed to fall way short. Of course, several manufacturers delved into the retro trend; Chevy HHR/SSR, Ford Thunderbird, Chrysler PT Cruiser, and kind of the Chrysler Crossfire. I never heard of the James Bond 007 version. Very unique automobile! Thanks Lou for a great presentation!

I'm glad to see this video. I never had that close-up a look at the retro T-bird. I have seen some in parking lots where I could peek in the window, but I was not able to get inside or see under the hood and in the trunk. I wish the Bond movie would have featured a different color. I am not a fan of coral. Just prior to viewing this video I watched one that compared a 2003 to a 1957. I believe they were saying that the retro T-bird was one of Ford's disastrous mistakes. I don't agree! The thing I think that mostly limited sales was the fact that it is a two seater. Although the original Thunderbirds were two seaters, they expanded to four or five seat cars in 58 and tweaked that body well into the 70s. So if Ford had made a retro version of the 63 or 65 Thunderbird, which was it's real legacy, I think it would have done better in the market. One other point I have come to the conclusion that Dennis really doesn't like convertibles with the top down. He is a collector, so he buys them, but the top remains up, or in this case on. Another great video, Lou! Congratulations.

It's hard to believe that the series is 20 years old already. It still looks up to date. I haven't seen even one of those, here in Europe. All they send us are those ugly Mustangs. Now, if only Ford Motor Co. would do us a retro Continental Mark II. The only things to really complain about are the two-toned door panels (there's too much black, in there). They should have been made entirely in white, like they were back in the classic years

You know Lou this wasn’t the first time that Ford featured a new model in a Bond film. 1964’s Goldfinger featured the then brand new Mustang in a very great mountain car chase with guns and everything but this Halle Berry thing was on screen less than 10 seconds. It didn’t even make sense. She pulls up to the ice palace in where ? ( Iceland I guess ) But how did the car get there? Was it airlifted? It was a dumb obvious product placement cameo. The coral and white was / is very pretty. The 007 pistol logo on the dashboard is goofy. The movie did nothing to promote sales of this car. It’s really a pity too because when these came out in 2002 they were greatly anticipated but turned out to be a major flop for Ford. Ford cheesed out on everything from the owners manual printed only in black-and-white with borrowed text from every other Ford product and that cheap as a Rubbermaid trashcan LS Lincoln interior. Oh and also back in 2002 I remember that the dealers were charging a $10,000 premium for this thing over sticker. With all due to respect to this owner who is obviously very happy that he has this under 300 mile example, it’s gonna go the way of the Thunderbirds movie Lady Penelope pink Thunderbird… a topic of jokes. ( Rolls-Royce knew to stay away from that movie but Ford ate it up )
