Down contactor coil check it with a multimeter. You should have one in your tool bag at all times I recommend it.

Maybe it's the lift gate switch. I had a similar problem. I couldn't go down but could go. Up. Replaced the switch.

Tap the motor with hammer few light taps. If pump motor is going bad sometimes tht issue your having will happen

Do you know how to use a multimeter? Check the solenoid for the downside pressure.

And you always want the switch to the lift gate in the off position if it's not in use, right? For some reason I saw a rental listing where that was stressed. So I'm guessing if you don't, it can cause problems with it.

Did you there taking the switch off and check the wires? You might be able to switch the wires just to see if it's the down part of the switch and hope it is that well be the cheapest fix. A new pump runs about 600 to 800

I don't know what's wrong with it, but if it weren't for the warranty, I wonder why you'd have to take it, to get it fixed. It's just with engine problems you have to take a Hino to a Hino Dealership to get fixed right? Lift gates can be fixed anywhere, or no? I might find myself in the same situation one day...
