Just the no-so-good ones. The good brands have dealers with a lot less, to no, inventory left. I'd say that if you find a dealership with a lot of extra inventory, you should be asking yourself 'why?' Why would a brand thought to be 'great' among some not be sold out when others are?

Have a new 579... all Paccar automated company truck. I am old school... new trucks? Well, ride great, are comfortable and quiet. Run pretty good with small engines, BUT! This thing is tearing itself up the way it shifts itself TOO often, engine brake is way too rough on driveline, when going back on accel after coaster brake, big torque slam on driveline... all kinds of sensor inop seek service warnings. New no experience drivers will think truck tearing itself up is normal... Smh.

You can only take this business model so far. Eventually, the fixed costs and fuel costs limit the ability of a business to accept lower freight rates. What you're doing is extrapolating the hoary chestnut of low-paid immigrant drivers. When these newbies start getting screwed over, they tell their folks at home that the move is no longer worth it.

We can't buy new trucks that are durable and reliable, and you can't get parts. Let's alont access to diagnose. Your description of what happened when we had pre emmission trucks that didn't have an average of 8 weeks in the dealer. When a water pump didn't cost more than a car. Or roads that aren't being maintained to previous standards, like when we had a tax base to fix and replace the infastructure. As long as we dont have an economy that even keiled so civil society can be an innovative machine that allows the USA to rock the logic and reason crowd and not the emotionally driven one we have now. I.e. 2000, unexpected repairs 1,200 us dollars. Self diagnosiable and great parts availability. 2023 , unexpected repairs. 63,000 us dollars. Dealer only diagnostics, dealer only parts. stuck in a hotel.... not generating an income to pay outrageous unexpected repower costs to get your customers delivery on time.

The trucking industry is definitely facing a crossroads. Some companies are using their profits from the recent boom to upgrade their fleets, while others are continuing to operate with aging trucks in an effort to save money. It remains to be seen which approach will be more successful in the long run. Those who are investing in new trucks are doing so in anticipation of a downturn in the market. They know that older trucks are more likely to break down, which can lead to costly downtime and lost revenue. In addition, newer trucks are more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly, which can give companies a competitive advantage. On the other hand, companies that are choosing to keep their older trucks are doing so in order to reduce costs. They are hoping that the market will remain strong and that they will be able to avoid the high upfront costs of purchasing new trucks. However, they are taking a risk that their trucks will break down more frequently, which could lead to even greater costs in the long run. Only time will tell which approach will be more successful. However, one thing is for sure: the trucking industry is in a state of flux. The companies that are able to adapt to the changing market conditions will be the ones that are most likely to succeed.

We are talking about 27k trucks, not 27k drivers. Your assertion that this will have an influence on the freight market, has to be wrong. If it will have any influence, it should actually push the rates higher. People driving new trucks will want higher prices in order to cover the truck costs. Old equipment cots will definitely go down.

Company drivers are how rate cutting companies undercut every other company. They first buy cheap trucks and then put new/cheap drivers in them to acquire work by cutting the rates.

And what the dumb driver doesn't understand is, if you think that they were running you hard 1-2 years ago; imagine when that trucking outfit smiles and feigns nice with you during courtship, orientation and your first 2-3 weeks. With today's shitty trucking industry, that company is going to run you, and run you, and I'm sorrying you and pushing you right out the door. Next- Yells the CEO and Operations Manager as they fight to see which one gets to wear Satan's horns and forked tail during the next weeks orientation. After 3-6 months, that $165,000.00 truck will have gone thru 4 or 5 very pissed off drivers who were grinding gears, abusing the transmission, pissed and gushed all over both sides of the mattress, thrown Pepsi mixed with coffee up on the roof lining and Lord only knows what else. Wash, rinse and repeat.

You think workers get pay double to make them i don't think so I was asking for a new truck last year they told me we only deal with big companies .One owner operator don't count now i say f you i wont by one now let them struggle for a while they will see.we always get screwed by dealer

You make an EXCELLENT point. One would think that with the products and services being sold increasing exponentially in value, the people who play key roles would proportionally earn more as well, but doesn't it seem like they're being paid the same or less while their work is being sold for more and more?

That's also due in part of the fact they have a boat load of problems with them. As a company driver, i drive a 22 T680. I got it with 15 miles on it, and at just about 184,000 miles it's had about a month total of dealership downtime, for electrical issues. Last week, I lost brake lights at night even tho independently all the lights worked. For the last 4 months, i've had something causing it not to start, if it sits for more than a day and a half with the Fridge and Camara running and limited inverter/cigarette lighter use. Even if I let the truck idle for 3-4 hours. It's beyond frustrating.

@@caseybunch6843 22 and 23 were junk trucks that they pushed out after the covid rush and did little to no quality control. In 2021 I was gonna buy one for 180k. The the dealership reneged and said 237k. I just couldn't get funding from the bank to pay for it. I'm so glad that I didn't.

@@Peterblack12That makes sense! My company only bought 15, the "Million Mile" drivers were the guinea Pigs to see if they'd be a good fit for the fleet.. they said once these are ready to be traded, they're gone. Then the entire fleet will be Freightliner.

Instead of this nonsense news that helps no one, why not push what to do to fix our problems? Push how to unite and stop this madness push to teach how to fix this problems us owner operators are facing
@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News
@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News 2 ай бұрын
How to unite? We've always advocated the how. We just all need to agree on a select action. Whether that is collectively not accepting loads until the rates increase or all going on strike. However, since that unionization isn't agreed upon by everyone, there is only so much that we can do. Instead we continue to inform and update others on the market and provide information on all aspects of North American trucking, as we have always done. The solution to the problem is evident, but we can't force everyone to adhere to it
