Took off my front bumper to try and find the build sheet hidden in the front crossmember. Opened it up to see shredded pieces of paper and an oddly well preserved skeleton of what I assume to be a mouse...

you're damn lucky to not have smelled dead mouse (or had chewed wiring), because i had an infestation that made its way into one of my vehicles, and the smell was the worst thing ever. worse than the worst thing ever.

@@toddinthemiddle that sounds horrible. Luckily I was buying the car from previous owners close to two years ago, and that was only months later I found that. Not a forsenic analyst but I'm positive that all happened many years ago well before I bought the car.

Since you asked. Turn off cruise control is a safety feature in case you need emergency maneuvering around an obstacle. Something like another driver turning your way or deer etc

20: passive entry system: I loved that shake the car feature, what’s cooler than being able to get your key back when you locked it in the car. Unfortunately the passive system has some parasitic current draining your battery, if you leave the key within reach of the car. I guess I never noticed until my room was right next to the car outside. So I got a key without it.

*REAL TIPS* - The windshield leaks on FRCs/z06 and will wet your bcm/pcm if you're ever stuck in a car wash like I was 😂. Just spray it off with crc electrical parts cleaner and air and hope it isn't shorted(I keyed on and off a few times before I realized I might have a leak, and found water coming down into passenger footwell). Also, I had the dealer steering lockout fixed but it still broke and had to buy some resistor from some random dude online. Oil pressure sensor dies around 60k. Do pushrods if you're not going to mod it since they WILL bend(7.4 stock height even for most cam/heads). If you're going to do a cam, do upgraded trunion rockers(PRC, no need for roller tip). I blew up the stock ones and had to count every bearing while maneurvering them via magnetism through/out the oil pan...Just do pushrods and rockers anyway really.

FYI, every car has those trunk vents, all cars have vents in the trunk like that, all cars display the manufacturers recommended tire pressure on the inside of the driver door, all gm cars from that era reset the oil life with three gas pedal pumps (ignition on, car not running), mirrors on most any car can rotate like that. Still, cool to see some of the other quirks of the Corvette

Could you tell us about how much oil your car burns ,if it burns any, ik there was a deal about 99-01 ls1 motors having ring problems, so I was wondering how bad is it really unless you got one that was reringed ,also whenever you get your car tuned could you tell us about the pros and cons of keeping a cat and stock tune or no cat and tune for reliability sake, because I’m very close to getting a c5 and I want to delete the cat but I don’t wanna hurt the longevity of it, and idk if it’s the same or better with or without the cat, a lil confusing but ya get me

@0Heeroyuy01 Жыл бұрын
probably b/c once you start doing stuff like cams you need to do supporting mods too as well as get a retune to actually use said cams and doing all that can make the reliability go down
@ViperMods_216 Жыл бұрын
@@0Heeroyuy01 my c6 has had a cam in it since 2011 without any reliability issues. He has every supporting mods already. Corvettes need a cam, the factory cam is mainly to keep the EPA happy

@@ViperMods_216 did i say unreliable? no i said reliability can go down, and depending on how aggressive the cam is it might make it undrive able. a buddy of min bought a 02 z06 but b/c of the exhaust alone he doesnt dive it much b/c of the loud ass noise and not being able to hear anything, order food at drive thou cut the car off, loud drown just driving etc then there is my 01 C5 that has a small drown but is actually ok for daily driving as iv daily drove mine rain, snow or sun since i got it in march 2020 and before you say anything about us being old and thats why we hate the down i assure you we are not old he was 29 when he got his in 2020 and i was 26. point is once you start modding a car other issues *CAN* come up and it *CAN* , make driving the car a pain for one reason or another.

I’ve owned 3 C5 MN6 cars and still have the ‘99 leftover I bought new when I was 24 in Spring Y2K. Heads, Cam (third one in this car) since 2003. When it also hot forged internals in 2008. And now since 2020 supercharged with a Novi 1500. Still running and driving perfectly with 148k miles. Original trans but new torque tube, rear diff and hubs replaced. Reliability can be compromised on any engine that is opened up and modified. It’s also likely to take more abuse once the owner makes it more fun to drive. But don’t be fooled. When built correctly by a competent engine builder and tuned by a competent tuner (not your buddy with HP Tuners and a weekend hobby) your LS1 C5 can and will run like a monster for a very long time. To all you new or soon to be C5 owners…if you are looking for advice on KZbin you’re looking in the wrong place. Go on CorvetteForum.com or LS1Tech.com for proper direction, feedback and advice from guys that have been in the C5 mod game for decades. YT is mostly for entertainment and some DIY tips.

The air freshener on the mirror is especially nice, along with the mile long coiled radar detector cord. Here's an idea. Throw the freshener away (or under the seat), and mount your radar detector just above the dash. You won't lose any range.
