Another great lesson - thank you. Girls who work in konbini say 'irasshaimase' in such a delightful way it almost seems like they are singing it, and sounds really genuine, even though they have to say it hundreds of times a day! It never fails to make me smile and I always nod to them.

Might I also suggest to people planning to visit Japan that if a Japanese person is talking too quickly (why do they ALWAYS talk so fast???) you can politely ask them to speak more slowly by saying: 'mou yukkuri onegaishimasu'.
