Haha thank you for your kind words! I do love anatomy and also speculative physiology, and so that is something I try to keep up with. But I am afraid that I really am pretty lazy and slack when it comes to theropods. They just don't excite me the way sauropods or ceratopsians do! 😅😅

If they can do Megaraptor lips so well, I am sure they'll be able to do larger theropods with lips well too! Or they could just go without an articulated jaw like this guy!

As you can probably guess from my username, Dilophosaurus is my favorite dinosaur. I've been wanting a 1/35 model of one for ages, but none have quite looked right to me, until this one. The colors and sculpt are jaw-dropping, and I love the subtle details like the individual variation in crest shapes between the male and female. The idea of the male staying and tending to the nest also reminds me of Emus, definitely my favorite extant dinosaur, so that's another big plus!

You couldn't have chosen a better name then! This one has your name all over it! This one definitely is the best right now, and as someone who has been hoping of more Juarassic park theropods it certainly met a lot of my hopes! HLG just goes from strength to strength, and is really apporaching equality in terms of sculpt and accuracy between their herbivores and their carnivores.

Haolonggood does it again. I think we all should show our appreciation to Haolonggoods designers. Because of their creativity, we get these amazing figures. Beautiful color schemes, different poses, color variations, etc. And I wonder: Is this the best mass-produced Dilophosaurus model? I think so because the only other nice-looking figure I can think of is that Papo one. My dear sir, have you seen the color scheme for their Dilophosaurus resin version? I think that is the most eye-pleasing and beautiful version. I'm so happy to see this underrated dinosaur get its respective figure, and hopefully, I'll be able to get this someday. Thank you so much, my dear sir. Keep it up. ☺🖤
@DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
No in fact, I haven't seen their resin version. Not that I will have the time or the money to buy it though! There are other models I would rather spend the resources on... and not to mention my POOR DRAGONS! Been neglected the whole year! This Dilophosaurus does seem to be the closest I've seen to a modern, more robust crest reconstruction. And I like how HLG has really captured different aspects of the anatomy. Their latest Baryonyx though, has some misses. 🙄

Best Dilophosaurus figures in my opinion I’m glad that there’s no feathers and no testicles on their faces like in some art depiction my only issue I have, of course is that they both have a osteoderms
@DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
Yes I have seen some of the more radical ones that really are not my cup of tea. Osteoderms however to some degree or other are possible, and in any case they aren't colourized dramatically like some models I've seen. Hopefully it will be small enough to overlook!
@tyrannotherium7873 Жыл бұрын
@@DinosDragons yeah, I heard it’s outdated because dilophosaurus does not have a osteoderms. I think at the time they thought that it was related to Ceratosaurus or something just like in the documentary when dinosaurs roamed America.

I’m actually surprised that you measured the models along the centra, pretty much all dinosaur models that are marketed as 1:35th scale are actually slightly larger because the length is measured in a straight line, not along the center of the spine.
@DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
It doesn't make appeal to me because that would depend very much on the attitude of the neck and tail. So measuring in a straight line will often give you inconsistent values. Measuring along the centra will still have measurement differences, but I suspect it would be less dependent on the posture of the animal.

@DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
¡Definitivamente!

I usually put comments on review videos after I got the products in the videos but this time is a bit different. I'm on a crossroad to buy or not to buy. I mean, it's not bad... Actually its colour palette and sculpture are really good. But after seeing lipped theropods in Prehistoric Planet and the arrival of PNSO Saurophaganax to my home, theropods without lips are kinda... how should I put this... It feels like something is missing. I know. I was surprised by myself for this because I thought I won't care about it. Aside from that, I know the fact that the pair of dilophosauruses will be amazing on my shelf. However in these days my accounts are being drained fast just for foods. Yeah, this is one of the "life happened" that I mentioned in the comment on your S. maximus video. Food prices are going nuts while my income stays same. Harsh times for an about-to-be graduate student. I have to think about my economic situation. 10 days until my payday... :(
@DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response. I hope that by now you have been thrown a life buoy by your paycheck! Indeed, one of the reasons I try to do these fast is a goal of mine to help people make decisions. Understand many viewers have to spend a lot of money on this because they are imports. Being from China, I can buy these a lot more cheaply, but it sure is adding up! And lately I have been a lot more selective. I think if lips are going to be a sore point for you, and you can't overlook it, it may be best to wait because now that PNSO has gone there, chances are they will give you something truly amazing but with lips. Also, having collected for so many years, I know that time in fact does heal all wounds. There have been very very few models I let slip because I couldn't afford them, that I thought of them as the one that got away. So far those I have loved and lost have not bothered me too much. Hang in there!
