Good video. I have been using the 140 as my practice lock. Using only a tension wrench and pick made from window wiper. Took me long time to figure out tension vs pick ratios. Some are really stuck so release tension incremental until you have first pin set. The easiest way I've found to know after first set is shake next to your ear you will hear a loose sounding rattle then set second 3 4 etc.is very easy to overset this as sheer line on most of these locks will have one pin set so low as to only need .5mm to set.

Excellent explanation on how to use a comb pick and why it works. Have you done any videos on the knife bypass. If not it would be great to hear you explain in detail. Talking through what you feel as you press against the locking pawl. Maybe have something to show inside as you explain. Just a thought as I would find that interesting as I want to improve my technique👍🏻

Great showpiece of that vulnerability! Yes it's unacceptable that MasterLock makes some of their locks where comb picks can be used as keys! Thanks for showing. BTW - I did a pre-video on the Polish combination lock, and in it I mentioned that you are going to do a review of the white model.

One question I've had about comb picks but can't find an answer for, is does it damage the lock? I'd think that jamming all the pins up in the bible would likely damage the spring. So if I do this a few times on a lock, will it cause problems for continuing to practice picking on that same lock?
@HelpfulLockPicker5 жыл бұрын
It likely does damage to the springs but from my small sample size my lock works fine after probably doing it 30+ times

@@HelpfulLockPicker I did try it, on a 140 I have. With the comb/tok tensioners I have, and it worked, but was hard to turn. Ended up using another turning wrench with the comb. Then I tried my set of sparrows combs that are sorta triangles...two combs at right angles to each other in a single piece, and the extra leverage made it easy. I also tried it on a 130, but the bible is too short. Most locks the bible is too short, the 140 is the only lock I have that combs work.
