Thank you so much for this. I searched everywhere for an answer to why I wasn’t getting counter rotation after dropping a spool into my 7-pin practice lock, though I was getting a false set. You are the man!

Now I have a better understanding of the spool pins and how they work. My moneys arrived today. Soon my first little set of sparrows picks and the revolver practice lock shall arrive. Soon I shall feel what I am seeing and feel the frustrations of all noobs.

what about deadlocks, where everything seizes up after a deep false set and lighter tensioning doesn't help?
@HelpfulLockPicker5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes you need to prove "manual counter rotation" and very carefully rotate the tensioner back yourself until the pin frees and sets
@Ghorda95 жыл бұрын
@@HelpfulLockPicker there's a strong spring on the lock that i'm using to counter rotate and still nothing, this is a lockwood 120/50 and due to the paracentric keyway i can't tell if i'm picking a seized pin through the warding or the warding itself.
@HelpfulLockPicker5 жыл бұрын
@@Ghorda9 That can make it quite tough. Is it a lock you could take apart?
@Ghorda95 жыл бұрын
@@HelpfulLockPicker no, the 120 series are not rekeyable and each series has a different keyway. I can set the front pin which does give counter rotation but that doesn't change the other pins. I guess i could get a 334B45 which is rekeyable, but that is a high security lock that is listed as a blue belt on the reddit.
