Even as a lifelong Packers fan, I have to say Payton is the best I ever saw. You go to tackle him, you'd better make sure he stays tackled.

As a Bears fan, I appreciate that you acknowledge greatness when you see it. From my point of view, Aaron Rodgers is HOF as well. Anyway, Payton from '76-'80 was dominating. I just wish that he didn't play through 2 strikes years in '82 and '87. Frustrating he missed all of those games through no fault of his own. He would be all-time rushing king if not for the 2 strikes.

Paul Krause got as much work that day as Walter Payton
@daleschmieg9050
@daleschmieg9050 Жыл бұрын
Those who say Krause couldn't tackle didn't watch this game, or their Super Bowl defeats. He wasn't a great tackler because he didn't have the body size for it, but it allowed him to play a great center field. He didn't knock people backwards but could tackle when he needed to.

I read that the Bears offensive coordinator resigned after this game. 275 yards rushing and they only get 10 points winning 10-7. Vikings only score was a blocked punt. Running the ball like that it should have been more than 10 points!!!!

Payton rushed for 1,852 yards in 1977 in 14 games. The next season the NFL would add 2 more games to the schedule. Just think if Payton could have played in 16 games in 1977. He easily would have amassed 2,000 yards rushing.

Barry Sanders rushed for exactly 2,000yds in 14 games during the 1997-98 season. He began that season, after with first two games, with only 53 total rushing yards. He finished the season, over the following 14 games, with a total of 2,053 rushing yards. Both Payton & Barry were truly inspiring to watch.

Do you A) have the entire radio broadcast of the 1985 NFC Championship game and B) could you the same thing for that game (post the whole thing, then edit it to selected highlights)? If not, do you know how to go about finding that radio broadcast? Regardless, I want to tell you how wonderful what you're doing is; it really brings back vivid memories!
