Oh I detest how boring the house looks after the decorations come down. So dull-looking, especially with the dreary scenery outside-not even snow to brighten things up. It’s so much fun to pull them out and reminisce about each vintage item from my childhood. I am fortunate to have many things from the past, and use them each year. Happy New Year Everyone!

2years ago I bought a ornament box and was able to combine 2 bins into one. It has cardboard dividers and layers…and with a bit of tissue paper some of the divided areas I’m able to put 2-3 ornament in. Just a thought. We have a constant battle here I want the decor down on New Year’s Day….my husband could leave up till February! We have compromised to mid January but I still hear about it that it’s too soon 🤷‍♀️ watching this video I’m itching to start!

I also always need a week or so to adjust after taking down the decorations, and I haven’t started taking them down yet. I’m planning to try to declutter some of our decorations as well, but I also have a harder time parting with sentimental items, so I’ll see how it goes. I liked the greenery after you had cleared away the other decorations; it looks very Yuletide. We take our decorations down on the 12th day of Christmas - the 5th January - because I love a bit of tradition.

I get rid of the Christmas tree light boxes and use paper towel rolls to roll up my lights to save time and space. Since I have maybe 5 stands I use I place them in a large reusable grocery bag with a handle and store the bag away.

I love to put up the decorations but feel overwhelmed putting them away. Because of this I usually only have a table top tree. This year I was in the mood so put out two yard decorations and a few Christmas pillows and blankets and the table top tree. We don't have holiday visitors so no one sees any of it. For some reason I had energy Christmas morning so everything was packed and put away by 9am. Crazy but I have to do it when I'm motivated.

I was just watching your Christmas decorate for this year where you said hung your garland with command hooks but used floral tape. Just wonder if you knew about the garland ties they have on Amazon for garland then you wouldn’t have to buy command hooks every year. It would cut down on the expense for command hooks, because they are reusable. You can get them in different colors or get some that look like your greenery. Just thought it might help. 😊
