That thing is a steal for $28,000. Hi-ace in my country is about $24,000 without 4WD and Automatic Transmission. No 4WD offroad tires options as well. It is as plain as it can be with steel tires, A/C, radio and manual transmission 2WD.

Yes, HIACE is a very popular vehicle. Here in Sri Lanka there are variety of HIACEs. From old to newer version, from flat roof to hi-roof. We have a nick name for the newer HIACEs, we call these KDH. Also HIACEs are very durable. The company I'm currently working, own two HIACEs. The older one is a flat roof and it's now 12 years old. It has run more that 700,000 KMs and is still running in good condition. It's a marvelous piece of machine made by Toyota.

I have driven the 4 x 2 HI ACE before for about 2 years. It is a reliable van and cost effective to maintain. Now, that you have the 4WD, I am sure it is a better experience. The ride should improve once you complete the fit out for your camping setup. The additional weight from your camping setup will improve the ride of the van. The leaf spring will be more comfortable as you travel for your long rides. Please be mindful of the acceptable carrying weight of the HI ACE. 1. Over weight can decrease fuel efficiency. 2. Cost of maintenance will increase since you are loading more than prescribed weight it can carry. Safe travels!

I never get tired of seeing Japan. One of the best countries in the world, in my opinion. I love Japan. I love how busy it seems. The part of Canada that I grew up in, the praries, sometimes you could drive for over one hour and not see another vehicle or person. Just seemingly endless crop feilds. Even just seeing Japan through video, it's a complete culture shock to me. I hope you still enjoy your new vehicle! As for the concern about the vertical shaking, I would strongly suggest a rear sway link control arm. That will fix your issue one hundred percent. The size of it and being body on frame sort of puts it at a disadvantage until you install some sort of control arm for the rear.

Если ехать по федеральной трассе очень много таких катается из Якутии. Сам я родом с дальнего востока (рядом с Японией). Был когда то давно Hiace 2002 г, очень хороший автомобиль. Но у меня к сожалению был не 4WD а простой задний привод. Но мне нравилось что в нем много места и высокая посадка за рулем. Желаю Вам от всего средца успехов в ваших путешествиях. Сам тоже мечтаю путешествовать также как и вы.

I love driving vans because you are directly over the front wheels and Hiaces are great vans. The only downside driving one is that they tend to rock back and forth, presumably because of the elongated wheel base. Good choice 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Nice van 👍🏻 here in the U.K. the VW Transporter is the most popular camper van it’s also available as 4wd, look forward to your interior mods for car camping (diesel heater maybe). My U.K. spec Hilux has cold weather spec, two batteries, power heat, which is an electric heater element in the heater to provide warmth during prolonged idling in cold weather, also helps de icing too.
