While the two infected just staring at Jim is terrifying. In this world, that blank stare could be that those two are so starved and dehydrated that they begin to hallucinate to the point of the lack of reaction at all. Couple that with the rage virus affecting them and making them see things already.
@ecthox-1mork909Ай бұрын
That is a nice explanation for why those two infected, and also the others that later chase Jim out, are just staring vacantly up at Jim without moving until after he hits the priest and runs.

@@cptaintskmaster Yeah, but like I said, they're probably starved and dehydrated for how many days, but they're still alive. I feel like no matter how the rage virus override their body's limits, it still has it's weakness; the hosts bodily limitations is also the rage virus'. This was just a moment where the body had to recalibrate into an adrenaline pumped vessel for the virus again, hence the display for the lack of reaction for a brief moment until Jim hurried out from the church. But yeah though, it's a zombie movie in it's heart, so the directors might just have thought that it would be a creepy thing for the infected to act like that.

I think this scene was meant to be a reference to the Rwandan genocide in 94. There was an incident there in which people were lured to a church which promised sanctuary, what they didn't know was the Priest there was actually planning to sell them out. Over about a day they hacked and slashed apart anybody they found, men, women and children. When UN forces arrived they found the bodies stacked in a mess all over the church grounds including indoors sort of like what's being depicted here (minus the zombies/ infected whatever you want to call them). It was described as an orgy of violence by both investigators and the handful of survivors that were found (mostly children who escaped) which fits the tone the movie was going for. Oh and the Priest as far as I know was found years later and arrested and convicted of crimes agianst humanity.

Like it’s not a warning, it’s not some piece of information that hardly anyone is aware of, they just painted the most obvious statement on the wall. By the looks of how dark the lettering is it seems as tho they gave it a couple coats too. I mean it is a pretty funny message to be on the wall of a church so maybe that’s the reason but it also just seems like an irresponsible risk in a world being overrun by zombies.
@ecthox-1mork909Ай бұрын
Looking at how crazy the soldiers from the blockade went, I don't think it's that far out of left field that someone in London before it was fully overrun just snapped amid the apocalypse and decided to expend the time and energy required to do that.

I’m sure this will piss people off, but I just don’t consider this a zombie movie. no one died and came back to life. They were infected with a virus that completely altered their mind.

It's a zombie film in the same way that I Am Legend, and the three movies based on it, are vampire tales. The horror tropes are all there, but they're plague stories, technically speculative fiction like The Andromeda Strain. It's a more believable way to have zombies and vampires without any supernatural claptrap.

@@mr.h3lmsl3ywhat tf is the diffrence there? A zombie film and outbreak film could mean the same thing. Like zombie outbreak. The term "zombie" is just a catch all term. 28 days' "infected" have the same aspects that classify the typical zombie, like the "if you get bitten, you turn". Also The whole "They used to be human, but they turned into super aggressive SCARY MFs to kill and eat you." Also it's apparently conceived as a"plague" or "virus". That's a classic one. 28 days literally starts the same way as walking dead, the only diffrence being that walking dead's "walkers" are boring cookie cutter Romero zombies. The infected in 28 days' are much more nuanced, much like the infected in the last of us as well, but they are all zombies nonetheless, as they still fall under that classification..

- Any chance the church from the new trailer is the same one? - Still don't get what exactly happened here? Was it mass suicide? Did infected kill them? Why were infected just hanging around there?
@MarkRice-h2m26 күн бұрын
I don't think so cus it doesn't look like it and Jim woke up in London this is a different part of the country at the start of the trailer. From wat I can see on the 28 days later wiki it was used to dump bodies of dead out of the way during the start of the outbreak and the infected just wandered in there. Also the infected mainly hangout inside and come out more at night there not nocturnal by any means but if u notice how Jim walks around for ages and sees no one and selana says u only move around during the day unless you have no choice

As far as the whole "zombie" debate goes, that word does not strictly mean "undead." It can also mean someone acting on external forces beyond or against their own suppressed consciousness, such as a spell, a drug induced trance, and I would say even a virus (or bacteria/fungus, etc.) So I would agree to some extent that it's not a zombie movie in the classic fashion, but I wouldn't disagree with the statement that it is. Edit: I am now fully committed to it falling under the zombie category.
@_.-_Crimpy-_..-.Ай бұрын
It definitely is. It’s just a different take on the zombie. Alex Garland was also inspired by Resident Evil, and I’m pretty sure that the zombies in those games technically aren’t undead either. Danny Boyle seems to dislike them being called zombies though. He even mocked George Romero’s zombies once.

@seymoresmithh8908Ай бұрын
1. May be a few days since the infected have seen anyone not infected, so probably didn’t know how to react. Adrenaline probably subsided during that time of “dormancy” until they were pumped up with rage adrenaline again. 2. He didn’t immediately turn and walk away. He only started to run away after knocking down the priest yet priest still wanting to go after him. If someone with blood shot eyes comes toward me aggressively and I knock him down and he’s still wanting to come after me…yeah I’d turn and leave too.

The City of London was evacuated (as per the newspapers) by the time the infected, spreading from Cambridge and into the boroughs, arrived. There was only corpses of mass suicides and some remnent survivors left. They are weak and delirious from the virus. A person standing out of reach, still, against light, saying "Hello" might be an imaginary figment or a potential attack victim. They are trying to figure out wheter Jim is real and if so, how do we get up there to infect and kill. That's the true horror of the scene, uncanny human expressions: surprise, calculation and pursuit.

It's kind of a shame this movie was shot on cheap-ish digital film at the time. Makes it extremely difficult to remaster and enhance vs traditional film rolls. If this movie were made today then they could've obviously used filters and AI, but I guess we're stuck with the blurry digital film for this movie that we got. Then again, the muddy, blurry image also has a certain charm. A digital relic.
