I'm one of those "essential employees" that can't stay home. My building is mostly abandoned. Only a few of us maintenance people come in on rotating shifts. The actual melodies for this composition is very simplistic (with the “pulses”, the same 4 ascending notes starting with a #, the drums, the base-line, etc etc)- but the accumulation and overlap is done so phenomenally and creates something so iconic. AND THE FINAL SECONDS in which the accumulated “chaos” (which, I believe, is a musical depiction of the virus taking over the conscience- I actually haven’t watched the movie yet so my thoughts my change) ends, and we are left with a simplistic melody. Almost like it’s the aftermath of an explosion. It’s honestly so haunting and yet beautiful at the same time.
