They are habit forming. Even when my 93 year old neighbor finished her quilt, she keeps adding yo yos to the storage box!

Hi Stephanie, I've watched this video and others many many time. I was si inspired tgat I made a queen sized yo-yo quilt for one of my gran daughters. I just gave it to her this past weekend and she really loved it. I used the orange yo-yo maker and sritched way more than 3k yo-yo's. It was a labor of love and I enjoyed every minute if the project. It tpok me five months working all day and late into many evenings. Each yo-yo is connected indivdually. No running of thread from one to another to another. Should make any future repairs much easier to handle. It went through the wash beautifully when it was all said and done. Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring work and techniques. I'll continue to watch with interest!

For anyone interested...the orange yo-yo maker requires 4" squares of fabric. When you get them all made, dump them in your dryer and give the a good tumble to get all the colors well mixed.

What a neat and helpful comment! One thing I did not do either was connect each yo-yo to another using one thread. I wanted the yo-yos to stay together forever...like so many antique quilts. Thank you!

No matter what colors you make they all seem to go together. It is kind of restful doing the hand work. Enjoy!

I usually get something round from the kitchen (cut, glass, bowl) that is the size I think I want to use. Then make a cardboard pattern and trace that on fabric. I hope that helps.

Hello 😊 I was wondering, when you make the yo-yos themselves do you just use a neutral thread such as a grey or would you buy threads to match each fabric? Nicola. Xxx

I have found that a medium tan seems to disappear with most colors; it seems that small stitches help with disappearing thread.

Hii!I just wanna ask how you did the template?Ive been so confused on the measuring

I went back to the video to make sure I went the right direction. My template was probably cut by drawing around a kitchens bowl or saucer; I ended up with a circle diameter (going across the shape) of 4 1/2". Then I made a sample yo-yo by turning in about 1/4" on the edge. When I got done making the yo-yo I measured across and found that the yo-yo was between a little over 2". I liked that size. If you consistently turn in the same amount of the edge, pretty soon the yo-yos are more and more consistent. 1. One way to speed up cutting all the circles (using the 4 1/2" size) is to cut a 5" strip of fabric the width of the fabric. Lay a few strips on top of each other (they can be a variety of patterns) cut the layer strip into 5" squares. Then cut out your circles. 2. Or, if you buy/have 5" square pre-cuts, stack some, trace circle, cut. I hope I was close to what you need. Please, let me know if I didn't! S

Do you have an idea about size? I like to use 100% cotton fabric. Color? I have material that may work. Where do you live? Please go to Hightower Stitching.com for my e-mail address and phone number (please leave a message). Stephanie
