Hello, You should add a few chunks of wood in the center of the stack so when you cover with the tarp the rain will run off the sides. But great video..

Thanks John! You’re not the first to have suggested this, I have since gone back and rearranged the totes so that the centers were all higher and pitched properly for rain! Thanks for the feedback and support!

Picking pieces out of a trailer working waist height makes life easier. May I suggest you try that with the tote. Lift tote a foot or 2 until it’s half way then lower it to ground. This is how I load/unload my 3 point rack and it works well. Keep up the great videos. Looks like Sam found that spot he missed😆

So much easier! I’ve actually tried that in the past and it worked well for getting that base layer of wood up to knee height so I don’t have to bend over so much! Thanks for the support...I think you’ll particularly enjoy my next video to come out!

Dude Ranch DIY ooooo can’t wait. I’m concocting a wood splitter from scratch. I think It’s going to be revolutionary. Hope it catches the eye of some manufacturers

@@garny3766 Very cool! Can't wait to see what you come up with as well! I have a friend who has built a few splitters on his own and is in the process of building his third modeled after an Eastonmade with a few personal touches to better suit his needs...

Dude Ranch DIY hopefully you can get a video of your friends splitter. Is that the same guy modifying your splitter?

@@garny3766 I definitely will once its finished! Heading over to his shop in a bit to return his mini dump trailer... two different friends, both equally talented fabricators willing to help me learn! Guy who modified the splitter is the same guy that helped me concoct the log arch on my dump trailer.

How do you like your chipper on the back of your tractor. I notice you have a woodmax hydraulic. Mine is woodmax manual. Some times I would like to see video of you using your wood chipper. By the way I just started using IBC totes for fire wood.

I love the MX-8800, the hydrostatic feed wheels are great. I have lots of videos on my channel of me using it, I believe I even have a playlist of videos.

I’m sure! Being a tree climber by trade is rough enough on my body, I look for any little way to use my equipment to my advantage!

Curious to know the cubic feet of wood in the tote. On another video you mentioned 500 pcs is your count for a full cord. Using that math, there should 61 cubic yards (edit: feet) of wood in this tote.
@DudeRanchDIY4 жыл бұрын
I just happen to be out here now so I took some measurements! My totes measure 40”x48”x40” which yield 44.4 ft^3 so about 2.8 of the totes would equal 1 full cord. If I had 61yd^3 in one tote I would be some kind of magician!

@@DudeRanchDIY too funny! So about 1/3 of a cord. Or what we call a face cord in MN.
@cvmikeray24 жыл бұрын
I think that you would need 750 pieces to get closer to a cord. 250 per face cord. I have a few totes and am going to test the size verses a stacked cord. I think that it will take 4 totes to hold a cord if their tossed in verses 3 totes stacked. I think for the labor and time savings and reduced "touches" of the wood, one extra tote to a cord is worth the cost of the tote. Hope to get a video of that done soon.

Sawing with Sandy channel did a tote stache vs loose video recently.

@@cvmikeray2 This has been a concern of mine for a while now in that either I or even worse the customer was getting shorted in some way. I just filmed a video yesterday covering this exact topic and the "origins" of the cord measurement, I hope to get it up within the next few days...the results were surprising comparing a 500 piece cord to a measured 4x4x8 cord!
