2816 The Empress | Canadian Pacific Final Spike Steam Tour

We caught The Empress 2816, a 4-6-4 class H1b Hudson built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in December of 1930, as she headed out of the Chicagoland area en route to her next event in Iowa on May 9th, 2024.
We'll have a longer video, with footage from her public display in Franklin Park coming soon.

It is nice they still have a steam engine running. If I ever get the chance to travel by train to somewhere decently far in a steam engine, i probably would. Feel like i am in the glory days.

In 2007 I had the good fortune to ride behind a double header that had 2816 in the lead and 261 following. It was a round trip along the Mississippi from Minneapolis to La Crosse and back. She looks as good now as she did then. I hope we see more of her.

The Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson and the two F diesel locomotives are very nice. Very nicely filmed.

I'm amazed that many of those are calling this trip for of 2816 as the steam event of the decade. :) Though you know what I'm hoping will be a true steam event of the decade? In my eyes that is. ^^

Was lucky enough to catch her at the stop in Iowa. And all I gotta say is: pictures and videos don't do her justice, if you ever get the chance, see 2816 in person

I have got to see Canadian Pacific 2816 at the Headquarters of the CPKC back in April 24th 2024 both in operation and idled under steam over at one spot there.
