# 0:49 German Occupied Belgium (Zinc 25 Centimes). #1:04 "FAO" Issue (KM #52) 1¢Jamaica. #1:52 Yes, 20P coins still circulate in Britain. #2:28 Wooden Nickels are fun! Mostly fund raiser tokens, but some are like "Store Cards" (Advertising gimmicks). My first "Woody" was for a 25¢ slice of pizza at the community college I was at in 1968😋. #4:34 The 3 Crowns signify Sweden (A neutral country in WW II). #5:15 Mexican Inflation = WORTHLESS & OBSOLETE. #7:09 "Para" In Cyrillic looks like "NAPA" (Yugoslavian "Cent"). #9:32 One of the Greek Philosophers who "discovered" the atom (I think). #10:13 France no longer uses the Franc, those coins are no longer redeemable for Euros. #11:05 King George II of Britain (Pre "Revolutionary War" coin).

The 2 pence, the 20 pence and the 5 pence peices are all still circulating in the UK. The "big old chunky" 50p peices where withdrawn from circulation in 1997 and replaced with a smaller version. In theory you can still bank the old ones, but they are now considered to be collectors items. When the 50p coin was first introduced in 1969, it had the highest buying power of any regular circulation coin in the world. A whopping £8.50 in today's money. It was a substantially sized coin as a result. The 50p shape has been copied worldwide, because its so hard to fake it if you ain't the mint.

Great find with the Halfpenny! Could be worth a little bit? I don't know much about grading, so here's a price guide. The 20p is still in circulation. 1982 was the first year of issue, though they are still very common. This design was used until 2008, after which they switched to the shield design.

Thanks for the valuable comment, information, and link Tony. My best guess is the coin is worth around $15 or $20, which is pretty good for being free! I told my boss that there were some decent coins in there (and if anything was like $200 I'd give it back) but he's super cool for letting me have some as a reward for working for him in the coin shop.

That 200-peso Mexican coin from 1985 was the old peso, before they revalued their currency in 1993. When it was revalued, the rate of exchange was 1000 old pesos to 1 new peso. (The new peso was actually a designation; it's why on some early '90s 1 peso coins you see N$1--the N stood for Nuevo. I think the Nuevo was dropped in 1994.) So your coin these days is worth about MX$0.20.

You can recognize Swedish coins easily, they will almost always have the Three Crowns, or Tre Kronor, on them somewhere. Three crowns is a national symbol of Sweden.

@TreasureTownCoins5 жыл бұрын
That's really cool, Luiz! Quick question -- what is the most valuable Brazilian coin?
@luizh.colecoes56675 жыл бұрын
@@TreasureTownCoins The rarest and valuable coin in Brazil is known as "Peça da Coroação" in Portuguese or "Pattern Strike" in English. It is a gold coin of 6,400 réis (currency at the time) fair in 1822, the year of the independence of Brazil, created by Emperor Dom Pedro I, who declared independence against Portugal. There are only 16 coins in existence. In a rare auction, it reached nearly $ 500,000.

That half penny is 1739 , its a pitty it isn't a 1730 though because theirs 2 virants , 1 with GEORGVIS +1 with GEOGVIS , the latter is worth a pritty penny as they say ! If you want a realy good site for British coins serch (VALUE OF COINS OF THE UK) and look for the name Tony clayton ! By the way you need to check if you still have that 1943 french 1 franc their's 2 virants ,1 with an axe on it ,the other doesn't , it's the one that doesn't thats worth something, they were minted for french colony's in north africa during the 2nd world war , very low mintage !
