The #reflexracing #RX28 gets updated and some new trim levels!! The new SE (Special Edition) version of the car comes has a machined Stainless Steel Tub Chassis with an extra hard and slippery DLC (diamond like) coating. The extruded, vs flat plate design allows the elimination of 6 total parts and numerous screw from the car as well as really opening up the chassis for low center of gravity electronics placement.

Sweet! Been pondering what chassie to buy as a new projekt car. Weighed pros and cons between Next Specter, PN 3.0, RX28, Atomic MRZ and GLR. Back n forth for a month. But the release of RX28SE seals the deal for me. Love that you get both front ends with all their option parts. It's a proper kit. Pricy? Maybe a little, but I was gonna buy all those parts anyway, probably. Last but not least - Tubbed 1/28 On-Road!!

Got my SE kit day before christmas. Epic timing for the delivery :-) The kit is BEAUTIFUL. I'm at aw of what I got. Looking forward to complete this projekt nearest months. I snatched the kit first, but the rest I'll have to purchase a couple of parts per month. It's way to good/advance for me to be honest. I'm getting back to RC after a 10 year-ish hiatus. The last Mini-Z chassis I raced and modded was MR02 (Still have it BTW). But I always dreamt of a "top of the line - Touring/Pancar" RC car. I can afford it, kind of, just have to spread out the cost to complete it. Aaand I have a habit of buying "the closest to the best" product, I can afford, when I decide to do material investments for me or my inner child. I'm a quality before quantity kind of guy. And the SE kit hits all the spots. And since I'm a noob at driving these again, I'll probably crash and break it more than a pro or seasoned dude or dudette. But I love tinkering, upgrading and so fourth, so win win. Or if I may quote Kevin Talbot - Whatever brings the biggest smile to your face! Oh yeah, almost forgot to say what I was coming here to say -Please do a new build video of the SE kit when you get it 🙂

Didn’t know the kit came with both I thought it was one or the other. Not sure how to feel about the price point on any of their cars. Before I was no way I would be getting one. I wouldn’t do it justice. Also thought I would not get above stock either. I reflex is in my future just hope I can snag a special edition

I don’t know why Reflex always have an issue on their cars even on the new release. Now the Gen2 RX28 has an oversize head screw that holds the post for the center lock shock. That’s hitting part of the motor mount plate. Come on! These are expensive kit! It’s a simple correction by replacing a correct screw.

new to mini-z and learning about other manufacturers. what else is required to complete a kit like the SE. Is the kit a roller or slider?
@TheShopMiniRC
@TheShopMiniRC Жыл бұрын
The kit is basically a roller. You need to add all electronics, tires (comes with wheels) and a body. So servo, motor, esc, receiver and battery This goes for most higher end kits (most need wheels but the rx28 will come with wheels)

Here's my take on the Reflex RX28SE. Although I am not new to RC racing, I am familiar with RC racing, and the cost of kits. I've previously built/competed-with 1/10 2WD buggies, truggies, SCTs, and TCs, as well as 4WD buggies. I've also built a couple 1/8 scale (although I never got to race them, due to the local track (where I just moved away from) not having 1/8 racing (other than E-buggy Lite). Some of these kits have cost in excess of $700 (including one of my 1/10 kits). So, as far as I'm concerned, or a top-tier kit, $500 is NOT unreasonable. #Tubbed 1/28th On-Road!! Here's my 'truth'. I'm just getting started in Mini-Z racing (thanks to my former next-door neighbor gifting me two Mini-Zs (one for me, one for my step-dad)). These will be used for "Box Stock" class. I also just picked up an MR-03 EVO SP, which I'll upgrade for competing (in...say...2-3 months) in the "Stock" class. I know that, within a year, I should be ready for the "Pro Stock" or "Mod" class (sometimes called "Open 2WD"). Not saying I'll ever win, or that I'll even be in the top 10...but, I don't race for the pure purpose of winning...I race for the enjoyment. I had already started my research, and the RX28 was already one of my final 3 choices...buy, no longer...I have made my decision. Considering the options parts the RX28SE comes with, $500 is "an exceptional value"...especially (as I mentioned, above) for a "top-tier" kit. I will, most definitely, be ordering one (unfortunately, since I just moved, and just started a new job, it might be 1-3 months before I can place the order...but, I AM stating, here & now, that I WILL order one).

All great insight and you should love the rx28 in any form when you are ready to upgrade to non-box stock. The nice thing about the rx28 is that it can grow with you.

@@TheShopMiniRC Well...I decided not to wait. After a few back & forth emails with Reflex Racing, I decided to "bite the bullet", and order the RX28SE...and, it arrived about a week ago. Even though I won't be up to racing with it for at least several months (just completed my first weekend of racing, running the ReadySet in the 'Box Stock' class, and the (upgraded) MR-03 EVO in the 'Stock' class), I do plan to stay building it soon. The only "problem" is that there's no manual (included, or downloadable). Before ordering, I asked them about that (while there is a link for a downloadable manual, it is only for the 'base' RX28), and was told that the RX28 manual could be used for most of the build, and that there would be a 'supplemental' download covering RX28SE-specific changes, which was to be uploaded within a few days. Well...that was 1.5 weeks ago, and there's still nothing. I emailed Reflex about this the same day I received the kit, yet no reply has been received (I'm guessing because of Christmas & New Years). As I'm completely new to this scale, I'm in desperate need of "help". Hopefully, they reply soon...just, just in case, might you have this 'addendum' for the SE? UPDATE: No sooner had I posted the above comment, I decided to check the RX28SE page again...and, low & behold, the SE addendum is now there for download, as is the KISS Front End directions. My apologies for ranting (above), as that was NOT my purpose for my reply. The purpose was to say I ordered/received it, instead of "waiting a year".

@@TheShopMiniRC In complete agreement. While there are several large RC companies, many (not just those producing 1/24 stuff) are small businesses, and many of them have fewer than a dozen employees (some as few as 1-3). These are companies VERY well-worth supporting. A similar example would be the LCG chassis I've got coming from Artful Dodgers (for my VS4-10 Phoenix). As for the RX28SE, I'm not going to consider this a REAL "down" side...but, this kit is 'forcing' me (lol) to order a few new tools. I have several hex drivers, hex nut drivers, and Phillips screwdrivers...but, I don't currently have 0.9mm & 1.3mm hex drivers, 4.5mm nut driver, or #0 Phillips. They are now ordered, and should (hopefully) be heading my way within the next few days.

from people with experience in this scale ,Is it better to build a pan style small scale car or buy and build the mini z cars? I've seen them before and think the scale is cool and they are handleable for most ppI im mostly into 18th scale RC cars i have a bunch of them. I ordered a little-used mini-z then I came across some carbon fiber pan style cars in the same scale claiming to be mini-z upgrade kits but we know thats not true they take it to a whole othrr level and I'm wondering dose jumping to the badass little scale race car take you out of the kyosho mini-z community because I think with those cars that's what you get we can all create fast cars but are they all included in the 1/28 1/24 scale community?
@TheShopMiniRC
@TheShopMiniRC Жыл бұрын
We pretty much only race the 1/28 onroad chassis that a non-kyosho. The kyosho mini z is the starting point and then you get into the more pan style builds. They are different levels yes, but it’s still kinda considered “mini z”. If you are wanting to race, I highly recommend seeing what your local guys run at their tracks. You may find out that they too, mostly run the higher end pan style lipo cars with brushless. ;)
