The Côte d’Ivoire Rapid & Blitz is the 1st stage of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour, with World Champion Magnus Carlsen heading a 10-player field that features 7 tour regulars and wild cards Wei Yi, Veselin Topalov and Bassem Amin. The event takes place in the Pullman Abidjan Hotel in Abidjan, Ivory Coast from May 8-12 and has a $150,000 prize fund.
The rapid section is a single round-robin with 3 rounds each day on the first 3 days. The time control is 25 minutes for all moves and a 10-second delay from move 1. The final 2 days are a blitz double round-robin, with 18 rounds of 5 minutes + 3-second delay blitz. Rapid games count double, with 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw.

I really hope so, but Norway chess has always been Carlsen's achillies heel, I hope he doesn't tank there like he did for 2 years. He would need 8.5/9 to hit 2900 there. Unlikel but he could say hit 2890 if playing well.

There is an interesting spot in the final hypothetical sequence you played after Yi's timeout. See 12:49 in video. After black king to d3, white can pin the queen with rook to F3!!! But after the exchange, its not a draw since black pawn would queen.

May I ask a ... maybe rather stupid question ... but i just want to know : do you remeber all the moves or do you have some kind of a help somwhere? because sometimes you fast forward the moves as if you know them by heart looking only on one spot (which is probably the mouse ... since you drag the pieces yourself)

I have never recognized English as my second motherlanguage (I am German) But listening to Agmator I see English through glasses!!! (...and it’s not up to the simple chessvokabularies. When I listen to the Original British Native; „The Chesspuzzler“ I hear only guttural sounds like „wrru wthgi whzgegollog“

You missed a possible drawing line after time ran out ( At the 12:48 mark in video ). It can be forced into a king and 2 pawns against a king and 2 pawns. . . .But Carlson most likely wouldn't have done the same line you proposed for him to do.

"Wei Yi doesn't want to enter into a slightly worse position against the world champion". Instead he decides to go into a completely losing endgame
