They had an old large RV one problem after another and just when things were going smooth a flat tire ! The lady never seemed to keen on it ! When they went to a catamaran totally different vibes ! My wife and I enjoyed watching together since we - from the U.S. - took a week-long break from Napton-on-the-Hill up the Ashby, and back in 2019, largely because of your same trip on your channel, David! David, I love following your posts on this channel. As an American, I have simply fallen in love with cannal boats, " from a long distance as it where." But I was wondering if they weren't moving a little faster than I thought that you or some of the other I watch would have. I mean, I was watching the bushes on the side of the boat go by, and it appeared to be somewhat faster than a walking pace. And I have been wondering about the yellow fiberglass boat you purchased. No American calls it a Sal-ON. A saloon in the USA is a bar where people go to hang out... We would just call that a Dinnette, or part of the kitchen really. Otherwise, bang on, good tour.

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about, w8stral. @cruisingthecut is correct in assuming that the living area of a yacht interior is referred to as a saloon or salon, and any seafaring American worth their salt would use that term. I have owned numerous boats of various sizes on salt water going on 3 decades, and have perused 1,000s of listings on Yachtworld and other sites, and the term is commonly used in both written and verbal communication. What body of water have you been floating on for the last 30+ years to not have heard of the term “salon” or “saloon” in a nautical context? Your backyard swamp?

I've been watching the Wynn's for years now. I used to watch several narrowboating channels (including this one) a couple of years ago. I remember mentioning to the Wynn's back then that they should try narrowboating and Nikki replied that she liked the idea. I'm glad they went for it and could obviously see that they enjoyed the heck out of it. Yours is probably the only one I continue to watch on occasion, including Vandemonium. It is obvious that you that have been in the news business and know your way around a camera are a pleasure to watch. I currently am watching @CaseyRoman (former TV news person) who does RV'ing and is now a realtor. She has the sassy attitude that I love. LOL .Keep up the good work, I love your stories.

Actually in the US "salon" means the same as the UK - a place where you get your nails/hair done. Nobody calls any room in a home a "salon" or a "saloon" here. (A "saloon" is an old-west style bar.) Most Americans would call this a "living room". In some parts of the country, they might say "den" or "sitting room" instead but these are very much the minority. To my knowledge "salon" is not used with this meaning anywhere in the country, nor in Canada. I'm not sure anyone calls this room a "salon" in English anywhere? I think that's just a French thing.
