Worth noting is that Doug Polk described Kanu7 as a very stationy player. Apparently at the time most people in the high stakes pool got there by being overly aggressive and Kanu7 exploited that by bluff-catching more, so perhaps his call could be viewed exploitatively.

5:50 this is where theory has always lost me a bit, wouldn't this just go into an infinite theory leveling war? if the Sb wants to bluff catch with a 4 or 5, so then the Bb wants to bluff with blockers to Sb bluff catchers, now doesn't that make Sb not want to bluff catch with these cards because it blocks Bb bluffs? and so on and so on
@ltsjack Жыл бұрын
Thing is BB has 54 which wants to shove whatever SB does, BB couples enough 5x and 4x with that to make SB hands like K4, K5 indifferent (since they block both bluffs and value) while a hand like KJo becomes just -EV. Does that make sense?
@matta5749 Жыл бұрын
Yes you are absolutely correct. This is the process the solver is repeating against itself to develop an equilibrium. It can lead to some pretty insane plays like showdown value bluffs where a hand can profitably shove while having less than 50% equity but >0 equity when called. That means it’s profiting by both folding out better hands and getting called by worse hands. This happens when the best bluffcatching hands have low linear value.
@2CardConfidence Жыл бұрын
Yeah @@ltsjack explained it well - if we look at the SB's calling range OTR, it's basically 3 tiers of hands: 1. hands that block value with both cards - 2 pairs and sets (sets even beat value) - these are called full frequ. and are +EV 2. hands that block value, but also bluffs - 4x and 5x hands - mostly frequency calls, so ~0EV 3. hands that only block value with 1 card or less - pure folds and -EV calls

He would bet 1/6 on rivers and he would donkjam a flop after calling a 4bpot. He was just THE MAN regarless the fact that he studyed a lot. I think he was just really able to understand things for computers and also from humans on the fly. Today people is really ego aproach and dont understand that solvers were on 2015, but the concepts that we understand from them are maybe from... 2019?. I mean when you constantly get there on the river, yeah you are gonna win more in poker. There is no theory needed to figure out that little big piece of the puzzle. Certain players do it more and when their opponents have almost as strong of a hand. There is no skill to setting up first nuts vs 2nd nuts.
@HeliosDroneWorks Жыл бұрын
You give the impression that you don’t play often. No one “constantly” gets there on the River over a large number of hands. There is skill in getting max value in some occasions in second vs first nuts. Particularly on turns and rivers. In very rare cases does nut flush vs second on the flop. Many players are careful with the nuts and large bet sizes on flop and turn. It’s critical to keep a villain in the pot when having the nuts
@TylerDavenport Жыл бұрын
@@HeliosDroneWorks And are you saying if you have the nut flush and someone has the king high flush on an unpaired 3 suit only board it takes skill to get all the chips ?
