Just finished installing a Lokar shifter in my 64 Galaxie fastback. I mounted mine below the floor because the tunnel is so narrow that the shift arm was above the floor with it mounted on top. No big deal coming up from the bottom. I appreciate you giving me the trick of the step bit for drilling thru carpet because a regular bit will ruin the carpet. THANKS

Dear 2 Car Pros; Blind drilling is much less stressful if you attach a drill stop to the bit. They are available at Harbor Freight, or any respectable tool seller.

Your die seems to have cut off the factory coating. In LA that's not really a problem but in other places rust could become an issue. I would have been tempted to use a little anti seize where it screwed into the Hind joint and just a quick blast of paint on the exposed portion. All in all another great video!

Back in the day I converted my 1955 chevy stick shift, to floor shift using a Hurst shift kit. Looks like car you were doing was a 55 or 56 chevy Belair. Yes? Great video.

I don't think you mentioned it but there were you cut the slot and even drilled the holes but something I do anytime I cut into metal like that I paint it when I'm done with the cutting to prevent rust on that fresh raw metal. Great videos! I've been watching your how to build an LS videos and now these. I just can't show my wife these how to LS swap because her dream car is a belair and she would push for me to get her one sooner than we are ready to get one haha. You're definitely making it look easy for this LS swap making it not seem so intimidating when we do decide to get her car for her. Told her if I got her dream car for her that the drivetrain was going to be mine to do what I want with. Can't wait to get started on it. Already have the engine for it after I take it the 5.3 out of my truck thats getting the 6.0 installed.

Great video. One small comment. Instead of needing 2 people, struggling with loose carpet and hoping carpet slice is over metal slot. Bolt down the shifter and then cut the carpet slice. 100% where it needs to be every time if the metal slot is correct.

Great idea! However the arm for the shift rod was contacting the floor if I did it that way. Would make for an awkward experience trying to cut the carpet. Thanks for watching!

Nice video man, sorry to bother you, quick question I'm doing a hemi swap I have a drive by wire wind kind of mechanism or kit I can use for my transmission kick down.

Thanks for watching! Typically with drive by wire systems they expect the transmission to be electronically controlled. Normally a cable would pull on a linkage and that levers the kickdown. I don't think anything is commercially available for that, I would fabricate something off the drive by wire pedal so it also has a normal cable and just have it do double duty. Thanks for watching!

Lokar offers a shifter that has a sport shift electronic mode. You'll need a digital controller to interface between your ECU and the transmission. us shift quick 4 can connect to the floor shifter and allow you to program basically anything you want with your transmission.

I know you didn’t pay for the shifter, but why would anyone pay the same amount for that shifter when they could get a b&m for the same money?
