Hi everyone! I'm Follygon and in this video I am showing you my entire character creation process from start to finish. We are starting from a 2D concept from Luigi Lucarelli ( / helloluigi ) - I'm a huge fan of his work, definitely check him out! I'm going to be creating this 3D character through digital sculpting in ZBrush, showing you all of my tips and tricks along the way. ALSO I recently got my very own 3D printer! So I'm very excited to share some of my future 3D prints with you. I've been printing for a long time and it feels so nice to finally have my own machine. Currently I'm printing my ZBrush 2020 beta dragon but I will be trying to print characters that I create in my future videos for sure. Hope you guys enjoy checking out the process and as always, let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for future videos in the comments section. That's all for now, talk to you again soon! ✌️
If you haven't had a chance to check out my latest videos where I sculpt other characters from start to finish, check 'em out below!

Is anyone else amazed on how close she looks like Amity from The Owl House even though this came out 2 years earlier? She has the yellow eyes, pinkish-purpleish hair, witch ears, and has piercings.

I sculpt on clay, and I really want to try sculpting in digital, there´s a lot of figures that are almost impossible to do in some sizes with clay, the details are too tiny, So I was thinking to buy a resin printer too

I would really like to see what's in your Grand Slam folder that keeps you pushing forward

@@Follygon do u think retopology is more difficult than just sculpting or is it just same effort but more things to do?
@maartens9933
@maartens9933 4 жыл бұрын
It's not as mindtasking, when sculpting you need to think of more things lik proportions and how what you sculpt fits in with what you already have. Retopo is imo easier and more of a zen/relaxing task. Although you do need a good grasp of what a good retopo is. If you do want to do animation with a character like this I think the rigging aspect of it is more challenging than the retopo :)

I am just starting learning, I don’t have a computer so right now I am only using the ipad for 3D, and your videos have helped me a lot when you talk about your workflow and remind myself to not rush. I would love if you could make a video about how to make 3D sculpts that will be detailed for 3D printing but not too heavy (I want to use 3d printing service and they have file size limits ) but I am having hard time not loosing detail.

@ChaseAyr
@ChaseAyr 4 жыл бұрын
All that was actually cut out was adding more z spheres and resizing them. It was more like, guidelines everywhere, cut to even more guidelines everywhere. You just click to add zspheres in between others and resize them to try and get as good a shape as you can for your character. that appears to be all ya miss with that cut, and its definitely not an incredibly important step. Just more of what he had already shown.

@jaymesl7360
@jaymesl7360 4 жыл бұрын
Follygon: thank you!! There’s a tutorial on KZbin called “making hair with curves in blender” or something, and In it they use a shader made in engine with blender. Since you seem to render your sculpts out with blender, you could maybe use something similar with it if it’s not possible in ZBrush? I don’t know anything about ZBrush tbh. Anyways, I think if you did it would make the sculpt look absolutely stellar! You would keep all the stylistic benefits of sculpted hair, as well as not having to deal with particles, but it would also help it look less like sculpted clay! Anyway, love your work! I would be absolutely thrilled to see if you give this method a shot to see how it turns out.

i’m not a sculptor, but i am an artist. and it i promise you isn’t easy. no matter how experienced you are or what type of art you make, everyone has lots of struggles. the advice i can give you is, only compare yourself to your past self, no one else. give yourself lots of time to improve and don’t rush, you have all the time in the world. lastly, if you ever find yourself hitting a wall, try to step out of your comfort zone and keep it fun for yourself. happy sculpting! good luck honey :)

Omfg the grand slams thing, literally! I learned and still learning 3d modelling cause I wanna do something cool with it and shiz, at first is was thinking of learning animation too! But my computer can't handle it after a certain point and that goes for modelling too :( and my tablet is a bit better for handling modelling but still has a limit that's not exactly at the limit I wish I had. I'm not getting discouraged tho cause I'm still starting out basically, but I totally feel what u said! I don't wanna make artwork that takes even a week to do and people only look at it for 4 seconds! I want something more! And right now I'm working on just simple models so I can even that out a bit but I still feel a bit off cause I wanna do something with this and have a reason to practice real hard at it. Cause rn I'm practicing but even a model like this is bit "draining" cause I know there's not gonna be a lot of recognition... But if I feel like I have a stronger reason to practice then I wouldn't mind. But mentally it just erks me cause I feel like I don't have a strong reason too. Where in reality I do technically because I am, like I said still starting out technically and this will help me explore so i guess it could be just for me but aUGH! - thanks for reading this if u did cause I just went on a random rant and I'd be surprised if u lasted this long😅
