Clear salad/ food take out container plastic for the windshield. With that cool paint job, net/mesh for the side windows was what popped into my mind first.

I was definitely thinking some mesh for the rear window!

I did a lot of these mods too....if you cut the sideboard and clip from the fender assembly, you can mount your battery on it to balance the motor weight! With the battery moved you can cut out the esc tray and mount the esc lower where the battery was.
@DFDuck552 жыл бұрын
Ya, like that wheel nut body mount. I'm going to try magnets since I already have a bunch of them. When I get my FCX24 I think about the only thing I'll do before starting to mod things is to grease the portal gears. Then take a "box stock" video so I'll have it to compare to later. After that my first priority will be to get a driver in it. I get premade chicken wraps about twice a month at Walmart. The plastic container it comes in is super clear plastic, not too thin, not too thick. Perfect for making windows with. I have a bunch of them saved.
@2fmrc2 жыл бұрын
Nice! I have some stuff I picked up awhile back for the windows in my gspeed hard body. It worked out well. Gonna have to look in to those chicken wraps! I get food and something I can use for Rc later? Done! Lol
@DFDuck552 жыл бұрын
In my local Walmart the Chicken Wraps and pre-made sandwiches are right next to the vegetable & fruit section. Don't know if all all Walmarts are layed out the same or not. I forgot, one of the other "first things" I plan to do with my FCX24 is to WD-40 the tread (but not the sidewalls) of the tires to soften them a bit. Because I've hear they are a bit hard.

Very nice cheap mods. I bought a cheap set of small springs off Amazon for under 10$ One set of the fcx24 shocks i converted to oil (30wt) using the provided o-rings. So far no leaks!! Used some shorter springs so still have a little suspension and droop Other one I added shock green slime and shorter springs. Not as much dampening as with the oil. They move very nicely
@2fmrc2 жыл бұрын
Heck yeah! Sounds like you got them dialed in also. They are pretty good shocks imo

The wheel nut mod to hold the body is cool too. Im making headlights out of un-primed pistol cases. Was thinking they would look cool as wheel nuts too, just trying to be cheap and use what i have laying around.

Super helpful video for folks new to crawling, lots of great info here. I'm going to check my trusty harbor freight spring kit, see if there's any tiny soft springs that just cover the shaft, like tiny dravtechs 😆 Pen spings might do the job.

Cool mod. Good show, bro! The two speed has shown just how much torque that smp actually has. I’m pretty sure Nick said in a live stream that he figured it could take 6s. That’s a lot of motor! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend.

Thanks for sharing that cheaper mod tip. Also I’ve been looking at thin Lexan sheeting to do a custom battery and esc repositioning on my nexx chassis. But in my search I saw they have some super thin acrylic sheeting that comes in like a roll that’s how thing it is. That would probably be awesome for the low weight up top on the windshield.

Might look at clear, clam shell food/salad containers for something like clear windows. I have a salad greens one set aside. Haven't tried heat molding it yet though. Another lo temp bendable thin material for trays, body panels etc. is Kydex.

Love this channel out of all scx24 content creators! I was wondering if you could give a super rough list of the sizes of the tools needed to work on these cars? I'm trying to find the different sized drivers and cant find a good resource!
@2fmrc2 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate that! Honestly all you need for the scx24 and fcx24 is really a .05 & a 1.5 hex drivers. Then a 4.0 box for the wheel nuts on the scx24 and a 5.0 for the Fcx24. Something like this should work well & gives you a few extra screws and stuff also! You’d just need the 5.0 box in addition to this if working on the fcx24 amzn.to/3v9sSvk

Here's a little secret for y'all... Ace Hardware, back in the nuts and bolts section, has a stack of drawers that are full of all different size springs 😉 They may not come in the length you need, but you can buy long and cut them to length.

@jasonanderson70202 жыл бұрын
so did you put the spring inside the shock? sorry i couldnt quite see?
@2fmrc2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Take the bottom off the shock shaft and remove the shaft or long screw that is the shock and place the spring over the shaft. Then put the shaft back in the shock body and tighten the bottom back on. That keeps the shock pulled up in a shorter configuration until flex is needed.
@jasonanderson70202 жыл бұрын

@@jasonanderson7020 absolutely! 1.5mm will take care of most everything on this truck. The only thing I think it don’t get is the tiny screw with a Phillips head in the driveshafts. This is a good cheap set that works pretty well for these rigs if you don’t wanna spend a ton and it’ll help out if you ever pick up a 1/10 truck also as most of those use 2.0 & 2.5mm. Man that things got good steering angle! Next up for me is that new motor. Do you think the mud pit snapped your portal gear again?
@2fmrc2 жыл бұрын
No this one was just getting in tight spots I believe. It definitely wasn’t the mud pit this time. I noticed it not pulling great when I was going up the hill with the overhang in the video that leads to the mud pit. If you watch it hangs a bit and that’s when I first noticed it not pull a tad. It was almost under the overhang though so it had some stress on it.
