I just got a package from FMS yesterday. It was 2 sets of metal portal gears. The crazy thing is they are in 2 small plastic bags. No label or anything. They are different then the others I ordered. Great steering mod!!!!🤘🤘🤘

I like the way the brass tubing looks on the white FCX24, it gives it a rough beat up look that matches the rest of the truck.

Man, you had the best timing ever with this video. I got my McCue extended links installed, took it for a run, and noticed the turning radius wasn't as good with the stretched wheelbase. Not horrible, but noticeable. Then a couple hours later I see this video, swap the front screws around, and adjust the dual rate. Seriously makes a huge difference, I think it turns tighter than with the stock wheelbase and the screws in the original spot. Freakin' excellent!

Great tips! Another option for stiffening the steering links on the cheap is to use a cut and bent piece of welding rod (or other small dia. rod) placed on the front of the link and secured with an application of the appropriately sized heat shrink tubing. Heat shrink is available in various color options as well. Will definitely be relocating the screws.

I have been running my FCX24 really hard and was waiting for the portal gears to fail. I opened them yesterday to have a look and my truck came stock with metal gears. Here in Australia we are obviously behind the U.S so this must be newer stock. Good to see FMS being proactive and making the metal gears stock

Just throwing this out for gits and shiggles. But what about using a smaller dia. tube, flattening the ends and drilling a hole through each end so to fit the steering link screws on the knuckles Get rid of the whole stock unit and take all the wiggle out as well. :) Just a thought.

Good call on the screw! I dropped my FCX REALLY low with free chassis/body mods. These free mods alone make it almost as capable as my heavily modded SCX24. With only $100 in upgrade parts the FMS out performs. Moving the battery to balance the motor weight worked well too.

@@keldonator There are many ways to lower your center of gravity but for a stock truck on a budget lowering the battery to balance the offset motor position and angling the shocks to allow the entire chassis to sit lower in the shock travel helps a lot. Also lowering the heavy hard body by coming up with your own body mount solution really helps too. A better solution to have your link black is to put heat shrink tube on it, it will resist all scratches and have a nicer matt finish

I just ordered the same treal wheels for my fcx24 wasn’t sure about the bronze until I seen them on your rig also ordered mudslingers as only 1mm bigger than stock tyres, be cool to see you do something with the Fms k10

I used some shrink wrap and it works well as long as you use the super hard setting version with glue inside (polyelfin?)

Matt I installed mccue s steering link and it feels more solid but when I totalled steering trim plastic horn now slides on servo’s pinion and that’s a bummer! I glued the plastic horn with some lock tight glue haven’t tested yet hope it will last….are there any metal horns for the fcx? Do I gotta put orings in between he steering link screws? Great mod man

How does the steering compare on the fms axles? I’m having issues with axle shafts with the Scx24 axles, both stock and mofo brass housings. I’ve tried mofo cvds, stock shafts, and lgrp shafts. Yes I’m setting end points but it’s getting ridiculous.
